works on Ubuntu 24.04, if you (periodically?) restart the kernel module
This worked in my Linux Ubuntu 24.04 desktop. However, it was not recognized at first. The dmesg log contained these messages and errors:$ sudo dmesg | grep Bluetooth...[14746.078556] usb 1-6.3: Product: Bluetooth 5.3 Radio[14746.088805] Bluetooth: hci0: RTL: examining hci_ver=0a hci_rev=000b lmp_ver=0a lmp_subver=8761[14746.089782] Bluetooth: hci0: RTL: rom_version status=0 version=1[14746.089785] Bluetooth: hci0: RTL: loading rtl_bt/rtl8761bu_fw.bin[14746.090021] Bluetooth: hci0: RTL: loading rtl_bt/rtl8761bu_config.bin[14746.090055] Bluetooth: hci0: RTL: cfg_sz 6, total sz 30210[14746.238752] Bluetooth: hci0: RTL: fw version 0xdfc6d922[14746.305913] Bluetooth: MGMT ver 1.22[14776.770961] Bluetooth: hci0: Opcode 0x2005 failed: -110[14776.770969] Bluetooth: hci0: command 0x2005 tx timeout[14776.770979] Bluetooth: hci0: Opcode 0x2041 failed: -110[14778.819050] Bluetooth: hci0: command 0x2005 tx timeoutI unloaded the kernel's Bluetooth module, and then immediately reloaded it, like so:$ sudo rmmod btusb$ sudo modprobe btusbThen, I was immediately able to pair my earbuds, and it has worked flawlessly since then. One other time, I had to repeat the above procedure of removing and reinserting the kernel mod (i.e., rmmod & modprobe). I am not sure how often I will need to do this. I would rather it be automatic (hence 4-start instead of 5-start), but this is good enough for me to get a modern Bluetooth adapter with a longer range antenna for a modern Linux (Ubuntu 24.04) installation.I do see these messages in dmesg output, but they have not interfered with operation yet:$ sudo dmesg | grep Bluetooth...[51256.492155] Bluetooth: hci0: corrupted SCO packet[52351.293090] Bluetooth: hci0: corrupted SCO packet[52494.207870] Bluetooth: hci0: SCO packet for unknown connection handle 2...[53038.002597] Bluetooth: hci0: corrupted SCO packet[53057.122772] Bluetooth: hci0: corrupted SCO packet[53092.978383] Bluetooth: hci0: SCO packet for unknown connection handle 3[54413.474523] input: EarFun Air Pro 4 (AVRCP) as /devices/virtual/input/input37[54571.233044] Bluetooth: hci0: corrupted SCO packet[55758.163881] Bluetooth: hci0: corrupted SCO packet[55910.874148] Bluetooth: hci0: corrupted SCO packet[55935.984047] Bluetooth: hci0: corrupted SCO packet[56067.109316] Bluetooth: hci0: SCO packet for unknown connection handle 5[56167.360343] Bluetooth: hci0: corrupted SCO packetI am able to remove and reinsert this USB adapter without having to remove and reinsert the kernel module, which makes me hopeful that it will be a good long term solution. It even picked up my new earbuds quickly too:$ dmesg...[57531.913912] usb 1-6.3: USB disconnect, device number 10[57553.845683] usb 1-6.4: new full-speed USB device number 11 using xhci_hcd[57553.922970] usb 1-6.4: New USB device found, idVendor=0bda, idProduct=a729, bcdDevice= 2.00[57553.922987] usb 1-6.4: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3[57553.922995] usb 1-6.4: Product: Bluetooth 5.3 Radio[57553.923002] usb 1-6.4: Manufacturer: Realtek[57553.923009] usb 1-6.4: SerialNumber: 00E04C239987[57553.933402] Bluetooth: hci0: RTL: examining hci_ver=0a hci_rev=000b lmp_ver=0a lmp_subver=8761[57553.934406] Bluetooth: hci0: RTL: rom_version status=0 version=1[57553.934409] Bluetooth: hci0: RTL: loading rtl_bt/rtl8761bu_fw.bin[57553.934654] Bluetooth: hci0: RTL: loading rtl_bt/rtl8761bu_config.bin[57553.934692] Bluetooth: hci0: RTL: cfg_sz 6, total sz 30210[57554.083410] Bluetooth: hci0: RTL: fw version 0xdfc6d922[57554.151579] Bluetooth: MGMT ver 1.22[57555.496175] input: EarFun Air Pro 4 (AVRCP) as /devices/virtual/input/input38[57561.638176] input: EarFun Air Pro 4 (AVRCP) as /devices/virtual/input/input39

Fast and Reliable!
I replaced my old antenna-less adapter with this and the difference is night and day. All my bluetooth devices are VERY responsive and feels no different than if I were wired in.Even through some walls and in a different room in my home, it works responsively.Very happy with this adapter!

Great range. Mostly easy install for me. May require disabling an existing device
I was trying to get better coverage in my house for BT headphones; older 4.0 variant. My laptop has an Intel wireless card with BT. It does work ok, but with a recent Win 11 upgrade BT has become unstable if I walk out of range. Once dropped, it's difficult to reconnect without off/on of the headset; not present in Win 10. So, I'm using a 6' USB A extension to place the adapter in a better location. The laptop is in one corner of the house and in a nook with brick on the outside. I've tried this before with other types of BT adapters. This adapter by far has had the best range results. This adapter provides full coverage to farthest opposite corner of the house all with the same BT headset. There are a few issues. When you use this, you need to disable in Windows device manager the other BT adapter. You could remove the BT adapter, but typically there are built into the LT or part of the WiFi card. If not, you cannot guarantee which will be activated at startup. When first plugged in, the new adapter will be activated. On reboot, my internal BT was activated first. This will matter. Once active, you need to repair your device(s) to the new adapter. Every adapter has it's own paired device list. This is explained briefly, but not enough detail, in the foldout setup guide.I did not need to install any drivers. Default Windows Realtek driver were installed. This was possibly downloaded by Windows, not sure. Not sure about longevity. It does not get hot or even warm to the touch. That's a good sign. I've too many small devices get so hot. This can be a source of early degradation and failure if excessive and/or continual. This device solved my major issue with range. I do recommend it!Windows 11 still has issue with BT paired devices related to services errantly reactivating when disabled by me and issues with Teams activating services inappropriately. MS will likely not car or fix theses issues, so we need to work around them. This device helps with one of the major Windows issues for me.

Install the driver, and disable any other Bluetooth device.
You MUST download and use the specific driver for this item. The generic drivers that comes with Windows will not work for it. If you have any other Bluetooth receivers installed on your computer (mine did not), you will need to go into Device Manager and disable them. If you do those two critical things, then this device will work properly. I was VERY happy with the range of that my headphones were able to reach with this installed. I'm curious to see how the durability and longevity of this item will be after time, but upon first use, I'm satisified.
