Q: Will this work on a door that is 1 1/2 in thick?

Yes. Mine are 1 1/2 inches thick and they fit perfectly.

These come with a latch plate but I don’t think they make a handle with a latch plate on the handle

Q: Does this fit a predrilled rectangular hole?

Depends what you mean by hole. When I removed the old hardware there wasn't a hole mortised or drilled in the door. It was a rectangle completely cut out of the door. For example if you remove the lock and close the door you can see through the rectangle that was cut out for the lock. I took a chance on this hoping it would work to replace existing Schlage pocket door hardware. It fit perfect.
