I have been meaning to get a knife sharpener for a while and kept putting it off. I finally bit the bullet and got this one. I was a little confused on how to do it, but got the hang of it pretty quick after watching the video again and reading the instructions. It definitely sharpened my knives for me!I highly recommend this knife sharpener!

Works well for a quick edge touch up. Don't abuse your knives and you shouldn't need anything more. If you're really into sharpening you'd probably want something more versatile, but it's a big step up for most of us.

The sanding disc keeps unscrewing. I tightened the disc and it keep coming loose. When I got it to work, it was ok for my kitchen knives. Also leaves marks on my hobby table. Glad I did not use it on my counter.

I am an experienced knife sharpener. My preferred method thus far, under most circumstances, has been a series of graduated coarseness 8 inch diamond hones. So I was interested to try out this roller method.First there's a sweet spot for knives that work well with this roller. The ideal knife would be about 1.25 inches deep, from edge to tang. I tried sharpening a ½ in deep paring knife, which was a rather unpleasant experience because the knife kept wanting to slip down the surface of the magnetic holder. Its tang wants to rest on the workbench, but that would put its edge below the surface of the block. So it was a constant struggle trying to keep the blade above the height of the block, yet with nothing to support its tang from below.Then I sharpened a larger 2 inch deep knife which was also difficult on the coarse side of the hone. The problem is that the rolling hone doesn't easily stay positioned in the plane of the blade. It wants to skew slightly. On the coarse side of the hone, the moment the roller skews, only a corner of the roller contacts the knife edge at one tiny spot, and at this moment the edge of the knife will catch on a corse diamond on the edge of the roller. The roller stops rolling and just bludgeons the diamond along the edge you were trying to hone. With knives that have a deep blade, the effect is magnified.Overall I was able to still work with this and get a reasonably sharp knife, but it's not fool proof and it doesn't work well with a range of knife sizes.If you want the best edge, I'd recommend you stick with diamond hones. And learn to hold a good angle by hand. A correctly used belt sander is also a surprisingly good solution.

Nice idea, but this tool won't sharpen many knives before it loses so much of its diamond grit that it becomes useless. The original brand may be better, but this copycat just doesn't last very long. It's also not easy to set this up for widely varying knife profiles. One is better off with a two-sided flat diamond sharpener and a honing strip. I donated mine to the local thrift shop.

Cool way to sharpen my knives. The knife holder is magnetic and has an angle built into it. Its super easy to set up and use.
