Perfect
This thing is great for recording audio. I used it to record vocals for music and I couldn’t be happier. Used with a SHURE sm7b.

As described, what you pay for
This review is for the gray and black felt half shell model, labelled "Microphone Isolation Shield, Aokeo 2024". For some reason these reviews seem to refer to several different models, rather than a single type. This unit looks like a half size version of a product from a different brand, made of similar materials. The main difference is thickness, where this product is about 1/8th (4mm) thick, compared to 1 inch (25mm), in the larger item, which suggests quite a difference in sound rejection effectiveness. This item is basically two layers of felt, the inside layer being very thin. The larger version seems to have an inner shell coated with felt, but I'm not going to destroy mine to find out. This unit will work with side address microphones, but a front address mic would have a hard time fitting within the isolation shield unless you poke a hole in the back for the cable to pass through. Will update once I put it through the paces.

Reflector Shield
This is definitely nice if your on a budget it works great sounds nice and keeps your vocals inside of it, definitely reminds me of the Aston Halo Shield but a Knock off version but still a great product

Versatile, Effective, And Perfect For Podcasting!
This company makes a few different isolation shields, so I should probably specify which one I'm reviewing. The one I'm reviewing is the Aokeo 2024, 14" wide shield which, I believe, is one of their newest offerings. Over the course of my recording career, I've tried a few isolation shields, but this one is a bit different from the others. Most come with a layer of acoustic foam (the kind you would use to dampen reflections in a room used as a studio). However, this one comes with a thinner layer of what appears to be a light, fiberglass-like material (I believe it's a reinforced, dense felt). What I found is that you will hear the results of this shield better when used with a condenser mic. Of course it will sound amazing with a decent dynamic, but if you want to REALLY understand what this shield does - use it with a condenser! I live in a multi-family apartment building in a noisy, congested city, and you can't always control the ambient or external noise that may seep in. With this shield, I managed to record myself speaking into my condenser mic (which I don't use often due to the amount of noise it picks up). The sound, while still retaining some ambient artifacts from around the room, was extremely manageable, and - at some points during the recording- unnoticeable. You can use this either on your desktop or affix it to a mic stand and use it that way (I tested it on my desktop, using the stand it came with). Speaking of that, you can also use it on a boom, but I haven't tried it that way yet.The shield is the perfect addition to any podcasting setup and extremely useful when it comes to recording vocals in home studio environments!

Reduces ambient sound
The media could not be loaded. This reduces ambient sound. Noticeably! It is not the same as having a sound isolation Booth, which is what some people are looking for. That would be magic! My only complaint is that it is so large that it takes up a lot of space on my desk. The weight is low and it is easy to use. It seems well made. I have not compared it to any other device on Amazon. I have previously used down comforters to surround my computer setup and I think they are better than this. Still, this is easier to use!
