Clear and useful aid to teachers!
As a professor of Greek and Latin, a field which has traditionally approached language acquisition through grammar and translation, this book was a revelation! Bryfonski and Mackey offer clear, useful strategies backed by science for helping students to acquire the skills they need to read and speak a second language. The survey at the beginning of the book was eye-opening in exposing my own ideas about how languages are learned, and the classroom scenarios at the beginning of each chapter were a great way to get me thinking. This book has been helpful to me in my own quest to create a positive, engaging environment in the classroom where students feel free to play, experiment, make mistakes, and have fun.
