Fun little gadget, good for checking BAC for fun or for peace of mind!
Such a fun little item and it was great to tote around with you too. It lets you see where everyone is at, and pretty accurate readings. We have another one by a different brand and the readings are pretty similar. Absolutely, by this.If you want to have for fun or for serious measure. I've had this for I think, over two years now and no problems!

C 6 keychain breather
Recently purchased my C 6 keychain breathalyzer and absolutely love it. I had already purchased the S80 breathalyzer 2 years ago and would give it 4 stars also. But when the C 6 came out I bought it due to it's small size, so easy to carry around when out on the town. I was a little worried that it might not be as accurate because it's so tiny. So I decided to compare it to my much more expensive S 80 breathalyzer. Each time I tested, I tested with both breathalyzers. And every single time, both readings came out exactly the same. I comfortable and confident using either one of my units.

I freaking love this little thing
This is surprisingly accurate for such a smaller and portable device. I have it on my keychain and it doesn't even make my keys feel too bulky or heavy. The build quality is really solid too, it does not feel like a cheap little product how most keychain electronics might feel. Works very quickly and gives you very accurate down to like 3 decimal points how much your blood alcohol content is. Great way to keep you and your loved ones safe! Also great conversation starter for me to bring it with to social events that I go to.

Calibration requirements render this product useless
When I first received mine, I loved having it so I could have the peace of mind that I was safe to drive. However, over time (and not that long either - like a few months), it started to seem less accurate. At first I thought perhaps the drinks were weak at a particular bar and that explained why perhaps I blew a lower number than I thought I would. However, when I put it to the test while I was knowingly absolutely drunk, it showed a .01 reading. If you look deep in the instruction manual, the manufacturer suggests calibrating the unit every 6 months. Well, calibration cost $20 each time plus the hassle of having to ship it to them and wait 2-3 weeks for them to return it to you; only to have to repeat that every few months. Plus, since the calibration seems to slip a little with each use, it gives me no confidence whatsoever in the accuracy of the reading so my feeling is that it is more accurate and reliable to simply count drinks and stick to the one drink per hour rule, etc. If it did not require calibration or even if the calibration could be done easily by me at home, I would say this is a great product. However, I can not endorse it due to the need for such frequent calibration. Useless and could even be dangerous by giving people false low readings and making them think they are safe and legal to drive when they are actually not.

First one I received was defective, but the replacement works perfectly
Item was defective on arrival, and will not function, showing only [ERROR: TEMPERATURE] despite both indoor and outdoor ambient temperatures being well within the stated operating range. Cannot be returned, although Amazon did issue me a refund for a defective product.I may order a replacement and may update this review if I do.UPDATE: I ordered a replacement and it works as intended. Just bad luck on the first unit I received, I guess.

Easy to use and understand; fun
I didn't want to spend a lot on a alcohol-level reader because I wasn't sure how often I'd use it and not sure how accurate any of them are so I bought this one because it was the cheapest by the company that seemed reliable and because it was so small as to be easily carried around in my pocket and because it allows you to see your results and track your history on your iPhone or Android by downloading the app. Also, I figured it was an easy thing to lose while out drinking, so didn't want to spend a hundred bucks on it.Setting up takes just a second and you can charge it with the USB port, so that's fast. It's intuitive so you can pretty much go from there. To test it, turn it on and check; it should be 0.0. Start drinking - wait 15-20 minutes - and take your first reading. The number should go up, maybe 0.01 or even 0.02. The more you drink, the higher it will go; that's how you know it's working. As to accuracy, I think so. There were two of us and mine rose in level slower than his; I weigh 30 pounds more than he does so it takes more alcohol to get me drunk than him, I think, plus I have a higher tolerance due to heavier use over the past 40 years, lol.The most important things to remember, as they will remind you in the instructions, is that you need to wait 15-20 minutes after each drink to get a good reading; if you check your level earlier, your body hasn't absorbed it enough. Don't worry that if you don't take a reading right away it won't be accurate; it's the opposite: you need to wait for it to be accurate. (Sort of the opposite of waiting 30 minutes after eating to go swimming, lol.) Also, this is for fun; no guarantees that you're not drunker than they say. Also, remember that you're expecting levels to be 0.0x, not 0.x, know what I mean? In many states, a 0.08 level will get you a DUI. NOT 0.8. If you blow a 0.8, you're already dead. So if you want to get the highest number if you're out with friends and think it's funny to see who gets drunkest, stop at 0.14, not 1.4. If you blow a 1.4, you're already dead. The only problem I've had is I haven't been able to figure out how to get the tester to switch back from when you use the app to just getting the result from the tester. You should be able to test it both ways, I think; not using the app you should be able to just test and if you want to store results and get other information, you switch the tester to a different setting. It's in the instructions but haven't gotten to it yet.The results seem accurate - the numbers went up the more I drank. Again, wait before you test or you'll get a crazy number, and that number might be really high (I think because the alcohol is still partly in your mouth or something like that). Also, breathe deep before you blow. I don't think you have to breathe really, really deep, but even if you do, it won't affect your result adversely. The higher-priced products may be more accurate and/or give you more bells and whistles, so if you plan on using it often or for purposes other than just for fun (or, if you drink a lot all the time and want to have something reliable that might last a long time, buy those).I'm glad I have this; I should've purchased one years ago. It does make me more aware of the effects of each drink and now I can measure how my level changes compared to how I feel after each drink.
