Phenomenal book
Love the way this book walks you through the Old Testament and gives you step by step what you need to know. It ties everything together and I continuously highlight and underline multiple sections throughout this book

Great guide!
This is an amazing guide for beginners of the catholic faith! I just wish they made one for the New Testament too! Hopefully they come out with one soon!

Havent read the book yet
I am so behind in my reading but just skimming the pages, it is full of info that I didnt learn growing up. I went to parochial school for 12 years and there was alot I didn’t learn. I guess my archdiocese pick and chose what we needed to know.

Awesome resource!
This book is a great resource of information. The way it is broken down and presented is easy to read, navigate and understand. If you have the Ascension Press Great Adventure Bible, then this is the companion book you didn't know you needed. When first thumbing through it, I said to myself.. "this is like cliff notes!". Then after reading the first few paragraphs, they ironically describe it as just that. The typeface of the paragraphs are bold and easily seen. There are full color maps, pictures, genealogies and charts. There are 3 parts to this book. Part one is a brief overview of the entire book.Part 2 is a brief overview of each time line period and part 3 has a brief informative overview of each book in the Bible including a section of how it pertains to Catholics. So you might be asking.. Why then the 4 stars?Well it's all to do with personal likes and dislikes and is purely cosmetic in which if I could grade the publisher I would.First, the book is a heavy thing. Weighing in at 2.11 lbs. A lot has to do with the fact that it's a hard bound book, but also the heavier paper used. It's not particularly long, about 485 pages in total (front and back). Reminds me of the size and weight of the high school math books back in the day.Second thing is the paper like I said is a heavy stock, but also is semi-glossy which at times makes it difficult to read in a desk light situation giving off a slight glare to the page. An all matt paper would have been preferable.Third, which is my biggest gripe, are the page numbers. They are barely visible. I don't know if they were trying to save on ink or what, but the numbers on each page are extremely faint to the point of having to strain my eyes to make out the page number. If they didn't want the page numbers to compete with the Bible book header, then they should have moved it to the foot of the page. I get that they were trying to mimic The Great Adventure Bible, but they dropped the ball on that one.As you can see in the pictures, the glare at the top of the page, and also a picture of the page number taken from this book and my Bible. All in all, like I said it's a great resource and I take nothing away from the contense. Just being persnickety on a few cosmetics.

Great guide
I found this book a real help in learning more about the books of the Old Testament. Background on the books was clear and helpful. Maps were clear. Type size was easy to read. I wish they had one for,the New Testament.
