First, you get loads of batter for your money. And it tastes wonderful. It really is lovely light and crispy and so simple to make. Just add a sachet of it to 1/2 pint of water and whisk! Done! Lovely!

At last, an easy to use batter mix that tastes like chip shop batter! Comes as a powder and you just add water, or substitute the water with beer, lager or sparkling water for extra crispness. As another reviewer pointed out, you will only need half a packet to coat 3 or 4 largish cod fillets/loins. Set your oil temperature to 170°C, pat dry your fish and lightly coat in flour, then dip in batter letting the excess drip off and then into the oil. Perfect results every time. Also great for chicken (for Chinese style mix in a good dollop of Chinese 5 spice to the powder before adding the water). Mushrooms work great with the 5 spice treatment also. Still craving more batter? Then finish off your meal with banana or pineapple fritters! Awesome!

I have also used this mix to make very acceptable Yorkshires.
