I have a large variety of Makita cordless tools and was needing a router. This item knocks it out of the park! It takes some study to make sure it is set up correctly, but with any high grade tool you can expect a small leaning curve. This router did not disappoint. The entire set up is first class. Thank you Makita for making yet another superior product! Now just get that 18v brushless ratchet out on the market so I can buy it!

I'm very happy with this compact router. It has plenty of power and is much less cumbersome than my larger corded Dewalt plunge router. At this point, it's my go-to router and I only use the Dewalt when I'm working on an especially hard wood, I need the plunge feature, or if the depth of the cut is especially deep and I want to make fewer passes. If anything could be improved about this router, it would be that Makita could add at least one more, larger base plate that would be helpful for stabilizing the router for edge trimming. Also, a square shaped base plate would be a great add-on as well since for a few projects that is a better shape. Ultimately, I'm making a variety of plates myself and it's no deal breaker.

Hubby bought this Makita router and a special router bit so he could carve out the window openings easily after putting plywood on the outside of the buildings he builds. He finds that using this cordless router for the job is much easier and it leaves a much nicer edge than when he uses a Sawzall. However, the router uses up the battery charge very quickly and he goes through a lot of batteries in a short amount of time. He's all about using Makita tools and he really likes this wireless router but could only give it 4 stars because of the large amount of batteries he goes through while using it.
