RiceSelect Discoveries Premium Black Rice, Whole Grain, Gluten-Free, Non-GMO, Vegan, 14.5-Ounce Jar

This is the only brand of black rice I have ever tried, so I don’t have much to compare it to, but I love it! Similar to brown rice except takes a little less longer to cook and has more of a flavor. It’s hard to describe exactly what it tastes like, almost a hint of nuttiness.

Got this after reading the nutritional value of black rice. Wasn’t sure what to expect as I’ve never had it before. It’s quite tasty! Not as soft as white or brown rice but, not as crunchy as wild rice. Easy to cook. (I did soak it for 30 minutes before hand. Not sure if that’s necessary but, it worked out well ) Quality seemed fine.

The best black rice I’ve ever eat

The first container I got was cracked and I was uncomfortable using the rice spilled in the bag, due to possible shards. Second container was intact and product was great! The nutty, earthy taste is phenomenal, compared to bland white or jasmine rice. With all racial overtones removed, once you go black (for rice), you'll never go back (to plain). Very tasty!!

Excellent flavor and texture. I mix with the black rice with the Brown Texmati for variety.

I’m giving this a 3-star, middle of the road review, because I have no scientific evidence to back up my observations. I’ve always liked this brand, but the color of the “black” rice reminds me of the wild rice blends that they offer. Please see photos compared to an Asian brand that’s also a non-GMO black rice. I have a different angle/close-up for your observations. This brand is almost “washed out” in color compared to the rice I buy from the Asian grocery stores.

Tastes like wild rice. Very good would eat this til I was full.
