I first saw this brand recommended in a zero waste group on Facebook. I have super thick, super curly hair, and I've struggled my whole life to find something that's moisturizing but doesn't leave my hair feeling heavy and gunky. And now I've found it!First off, the bar smells amazing. The fragrance isn't overpowering, but it's definitely there. It creates a really good lather with minimal effort, and my hair always feels so clean once it's dry. I love that a shampoo bar takes up so little room in my very cramped shower. One bar lasts me around nine months, which is way longer than any liquid. Between the savings, the eco-friendly company, and the awsome product itself, I'm never going back. Bye bye giant bottles!

The Professor Curl shampoo bar manages to make my hair feel moisturized, and not frizzy or staticy, and keep my scalp from breaking out. I pair it with Curliosity as conditioner.I've been having issues with scalp irritation and breakouts for the last 2-3 years, but for some reason that doesn't happen with this shampoo bar, unlike every other shampoo I've tried.Honestly, I might like the feel of my hair with the Frizz Wrangler shampoo bar a touch more, but the Professor Curl makes both my scalp and hair happy, and that makes it my choice. Using Professor Curl for shampoo and Curliosity as conditioner, my hair looks good, and my scalp feels good.The Frizz Wrangler is just a bit too moisturizing for my finicky scalp.

I chose this product to use on my cross country trip instead of dealing with the usual liquid (and TSA). Super easy to travel with, and works amazingly well. Nice smell, no residue, and clean feeling. Did I mention it’s super easy to travel with?!

A few months back, I was inspired to try this product because of a New York Times review about solid shampoo and conditioner bars. Since the pandemic, I have stopped coloring and heat styling my hair and am letting its natural curly/ wavy texture alone and am happy I did. My hair is softer and less frizzy, and I have tried many products to wash, condition, and control/encourage my curly hair. I also wanted to try something better for the planet and for traveling (as life returns to normal). I also bought the Ethique conditioner bar for curly hair as well as their compostable plastic storage container. There is a bit of a learning curve to using solid shampoo/conditioner bars, but once I got that down, I am pleased by the lather of the shampoo and how soft my hair feels after using Ethique shampoo/conditioner. My curls are defined and not frizzy. The scent might be the only drawback as the shampoo one smells a bit like a citronella candle at first—I think it’s a lemongrass scent? Honestly, I am very sensitive to scents and usually use either unscented or very lightly scented products. The scents of both bars are very herbal overall and don’t last. That’s desirable for me, but may not be for you. I know Ethique makes many different scents, but I have only used the bars specific to curly hair and there isn’t any choice of scent. The bars last a long time, so they’re a good value too. The little container you buy separately holds a shampoo and a conditioner bar side by side and takes up very little room in the shower.

After seeing how much plastic waste I was making with shampoo/conditioner bottles, I decided to try a shampoo bar for the first time. My hair is THICK, wavy and somewhat dry. I found it hard to get a lather at first. I had to rinse, lather, rinse and lather to get it going. I wash my hair twice a week and 4 washes in, I think it’s making my hair feel drier and not soft after. Also, there’s no way this is going to last 60 washes. I really want to find the perfect bar, ugh! I will say, the smell is really nice and have had people say I smelled really good.

Love it! Lathers well. My scalp does not itch like it does when using regular shampoo. Hair feels soft. I store it in a travel soap dish container to drain and maintain shape/ hardness.

Lasts a long time and easy to use. Doesn’t leave residue and makes it easy to style

I have curly hair and use both the solid shampoo and solid conditioner for curly hair. This product is long lasting and does a wonderful job for my curly hair. No more plastic bottles!
