This is the valve core removal tool to get
As a consequence of installing a pre charged condenser heat pump system, a valve core removal tool is a key element needed for the setup of the system. It is used with a pressurized nitrogen source to test the line set installation for leaks, and also with a vacuum pump to evacuate the line set prior to adding refrigerant.I initially attempted to perform the tests with similar cheaper devices, but I discovered that there were vacuum leaks with one, and un-reliable shrader valve capture with another. Save your time and get the Appion one, which is also the choice of many pros.

Must have tool
These and the 1/4 are must have for HVAC service. Pink is for mini splits and black are your standard 1/4 service valve.

Remove that valve core!
Very good quality tool, a must have for a mini split install or repair. You must remove that valve core to get a good deep vacuum. And in my case, I also had a leaky valve core, I had to replace that valve core. This tool made the job easy.

Excellent Quality
Needed new core removers for a new 410A system at my house. These sealed the system perfectly for my pressure and vacuum testing. I'd highly recommend paying a little more for these so you are not chasing ghost leaks like I was while using adapters on other valves.

Great Evacuation Tool, Poor Valve Core Removal Tool
I used this to install my 24k Pioneer Mini Split system. I tried just using a YellowJacket 5/16' to 1/4" adapter but was only able to evacuate down to 1500 microns no matter how long I left the pump run (No rise on isolating system).I picked this up and used it along with the 1/4" version to be able to isolate my micron gauge before releasing refrigerant into the system. I was able to pull my system down under 100 microns in just a few minutes! As a valve core removal tool both of these operate poorly. I was unable to remove the side port schrader valve on the 5/16" tool with the 1/4" tool when I was trying to use them together. It would drop the schrader before it even got into the ball valve. It did successfully remove the 5/16" schrader on my Pioneer unit but it was at a 45 degree downward angle.Really nice for evacuation if you have downward angled service ports or can remove the valve cores manually before evacuation.

Works great. Replaced the leaky valve core easily.
