Ordered this drain auger. It arrived next morning before my second cup of coffee. WOW!!!, I had a slow draining problem in my kitchen sink. After unscrewing the clean out access, I diagnosed the problem was not on the side where the water drains. It was actually the opposite direction where the vent to the roof is. So I recoiled the auger and headed to the roof. Inserting the cable I hit resistance. I tighten the thumb screw leaving 6 to 8 inches of cable over the vent pipe. Put downward pressure on the auger and begin hand cranking, it started churning up the clog. After bottoming out I exposed another 12 inches of cable and resumed pressure and cranking. Repeated that technique until I ran the full 25 feet of cable. Sink is now draining better than I can remember. 5 stars for this auger. Bonus got this done before 8:30 and it going to be 95 degrees and sunny today. Yahoo

It worked to unclog a kitchen drain. However, potential buyers should be aware of 2 things: (1) The fact that it is pictured with a drill attachment does NOT mean that the cable extends itself automatically. The cable must be manually shoved down the pipe and THEN you can turn the locking screw and use the drill to rotate the cable that you extended manually. The rotation is controlled by the drill or hand crank, but the extending and retracting the cable is done manually. (2) In the product guide it warns you that the cable is NOT connected internally to the drum so it is possible to extend the cable too far and have it detach from the drum and drop down in the pipe. So, you have to be careful not to extend the cable so far that it comes out of the drum. I didn't have any problem with the cable detaching because I actually read the product guide before using it, but someone who skips reading the guide might end up surprised by the fact that the cable can come all of the way out of the drum if you aren't paying attention.

Good quality & low price. Instruction is easy to follow. I was able to clear the kitchen drain & gain good water flow within 30 minutes. Do not jam the auger in all at once, that will bend the metal wire. Push the wire until it reaches resistance, lock the front & turn the auger to move around the pipe. Unlock & push more in. Do that until the entire length is used & the water flow will increase.

Worked well. Had a small wash cloth stuck in the drain. We thought it was hair or something but turned out to be an infant sized washcloth that went into the drain pipe. It latched on and pulled it right out with a few turns of the handle. Pulled out a bunch of gunk as well. Durable and easy to use and clean. Doesn’t tangle up to bad.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:Not sure why this gets a 4.1 star. Yes, the cable does coil and yes its a bit of a dance loosening and tightening the cable belt. But it does the job. I got my stubborn drain unclogged and only took me about 20 minutes. The product is cheap and does the job.

It’s fine I guess, but the metal used for the actual auger is weak. On first use it kinked up within about a minute. It barely was able to get into the drain - not for the size but for how weak it is.

Still helps with a tough clog…Worked well to help initiate my unclogging. Be careful to not extend the snake too fast because it can get kinked.In my situation, I ended up buying a drain bladder to finish off the clog.
