Accurate, up-to-date, and GORGEOUS.
This is probably the best globe I’ve ever seen. Most globes are applied by strips of paper put on one-by-one, leading to some countries’ borders being overlapped, but fortunately, this was not the case whatsoever for this globe. It was beautiful and shiny with aesthetic colors. It has no overlapping counties whatsoever, which was a relief. One thing that really stood out to me was how the countries were labeled. ALL OF THE LABELS WERE CORRECT! On all globes besides this one that I’ve bought or ordered had at least one not up-to-date country name. For example, the DRC as Zaire and North Macedonia as Macedonia. One globe claiming to be “up-to-date” that I ordered even had Yugoslavia still as a whole country! But this map had everything correct, updated, and actually readable, which was a relief because I got this globe for academics. It was the exact size said in the name, and isn’t too light or too heavy, just right in the middle. The details are beautiful, and it looks absolutely gorgeous. It doesn’t spin as fast and freely as other globes do, but I’m not going to be spinning this all day, so it’s not a problem. At first, I was skeptical about the price, but now that I have it I think it was worth every penny. This handsome globe screams quality. This was a huge win, and I’m so glad we got this.

World Globe
I was initially concerned about the craftsmanship of this globe based on reviews that I had read, but found that the latitude and longitude lines are inline and not askew as had been mentioned in other reviews. Perhaps I was lucky enough to receive one that is pretty accurately lined.

Just Right! Good Size, nice colors
Looks like the photo in the description. Longitude lines line up (saw some reviews that mentioned that issue). The 12in size is just about right, big enough to see enough detail, not so big it would take up too much space. I like the old world colors -- the ones with bright blue oceans make the continents less dominate, imho. There is just the right amount of relief on 'mountain' ranges. I see nor feel any imperfections. Yes, the stand is 'light weight' - there are versions out there with 'better' stands. This one is stable and works just fine. This is a more than good enough globe - recommended.

Beautiful!
I bought this for my 9 yr old son for Christmas as he’s been wanting a better globe than my old inaccurate antique one I’ve got. I am very impressed with how beautiful this is! And he loves that you can feel the little mountain ranges throughout. It even has ships named on it with the dates and people who sailed them. The packaging it came in was secured well with cardboard so it doesn’t flop around the box. The stand it’s on seems a little cheap/flimsy though and the surface of the globe seems like it’s a paper overwrap which easily scratches. Maybe that’s just how they make globes nowadays but my older one felt like tin or something much stronger.

A good buy
Better quality than I had expected.. The raised relief is more prominent than expected and a nice tactile experience. The base is also somewhat heavier and better than I expected. This will be a christmas gift for my 10 year old son who loves globes and geography and I think he will love using it. I also picked up a globe from the 1950s at a thrift shop because I think he will have fun spotting the differences between them. The various ships printed on the oceans are an awesome bonus as that's another big area of interest for him.Plus I feel globes are forever cool. Even when they become old and "obsolete" they are still really attractive and they also lend themselves to all sorts of class and art projects (check out pinterest).

My comments are based on many negative reviews in 2015 that I read before ordering in June 2016. I ordered this globe after reviewing all of the comments and decided to take a chance that I would receive a good product (and because of Amazon's friendly return policy). The globe that arrived today was in good condition, good working order, and very reasonably lined up (longitude and latitude lines). The lines were off slightly, but close enough to uphold the cost and value of this globe. I also found no chipped paint or other damage or imperfections. It's a beautiful office/home piece if you get one like I received and with the quality expected to receive; therefore, it's worth 5-Stars.
