Well made low budget chisel set, sharpen nicely
Surprisingly good quality for a budget chisel set. The box is solid, the handles and the actual chisels remind me of the old Spanish chisels from the defunct Mifer company.These EZARC chisels take an edge quickly with a 1000 grit diamond metal stone and polish up to a nice mirror shine with a 3000 grit diamond metal stone - see the photo.I’ve used these chisels on some funky walnut burl and purpleheart - both hard and tough on chisels. They worked fine. They sailed through pine on a doorframe is was working on. I touched up the blades after use.Diamond stones like Atoma or Ultra Sharp are ideal for chisel sharpening because you can’t dig or gouge diamond stones - a 1000/3000 is perfect for chisels but they are pricey.You CAN easily gouge a ceramic water stone or a soft King water stone with a chisel blade. Then you have to flatten and lap the gouged water stone with a 300 grit stone. I discovered that data the hard way.For general shop or job site use on a budget, this is a solid set of chisels.
