Great pack but deceptive advertising
I just received this pack after purchasing from Military Outdoor Clothing. The pack seems amazing and very well constructed and I can see why the USMC chose it. It is much more heavy-duty then any of the packs you will find in REI, EMS, etc. The pack was very easily adjustable to fit me (more on this later). I am giving it only three stars because I paid a premium price so that I would have one that was brand new. The main pack and lid were obviously never issued and indeed brand new. However, the hip belt was lightly used and had been patched. I believe in truth in advertising which which is why I am giving Military Outdoor Clothing only a three star rating for being somewhat dishonest. Despite this I am keeping the pack but probably will not buy from MOC again. Here is some info for the big guys out there: I am a big guy with a 54 inch waist and a *very* long torso. With the shoulder straps at full length the pack fits despite my long torso. The hip belt is at my belly button level as it should be and the pack rides well. The pack I bought came with the medium hip which was too tight for me. However, the hip belt has a redundant set of two folds at the buckle end of the strap that are sewn shut with heavy duty stitching. By cutting away this stitching (30 seconds work with a razor knife and I have added three photos to show the belt witht eh extra fold, with the stitching cut, and the buckle fully extended) I was able to add about an inch of length to each end of the belt and the fit is now perfect. Making this minor modification still leaves one fold of the belt material that keeps the belt from slipping through the buckle, but if I want to shorten the belt length when it is fully extended I would have to release the buckle, then pull the strap tighter, and then rebuckle the belt. For me that is acceptable. I understand that there are supposedly large hip belts out there that would avoid having to make this minor mod, but supposedly they are hard to find (I have not been able to find one for sale anywhere on the interweb). I hope this info is helpful for the other chubby guys like me!Overall I give the pack/lid/hip-belt combo a 4.5 star rating (but still three stars for Military Outdoor Clothing for deceptive advertising).

Very Good Quality / Reasonably Priced
I came close to making the decision to purchase a new commercial type backpack due to the negative reviews on military surplus (mold/stench/worn out material). Purchased the USMC ILBE MARPAT Field Pack from ArmyGear.net as they listed their inventory to include Like New condition and had a 97% customer satisfaction rating. I ordered the Backpack on Friday and received it on following Thursday. Backpack still had a name tag sewn on the upper rear portion of the backpack, some chaffing on the front of the waist belt and lower portion of the back padding, slight odor of hot canvas is evident (which can be expected from surplus items).I'm satisfied with the product (it's appropriately and reasonably priced based upon the quality) however, I would classify the product I received as being Very Good Quality versus Like New.I placed another order with Armygear.net and expecting the modular sleep system to be of equivalent quality.Side Note: Would be nice if customers would list in their evaluation/review, the vendors that provided less than satisfactory product. Is product coming from same vendor or multiple vendors?

NOT WHAT I PAID FOR
I’M LIVID. I first ordered a MSS bivy and green bag from Armygear that was listed as ‘very good’ condition. It was indeed in very good condition when I received it, no stains or signs of heavy use, so I was pleased. While searching for my next purchase (an ILBE) I noticed Armygear had a listing for one. Thinking to myself they made good on the first order, I had a sense of trust ordering from them again. The listing stated ‘never issued’ and was also described as being in ‘very good’ condition, just like when I bought my MSS from them. Sadly this was not the case, upon opening the package I could immediately smell this pungent bag and see stains all over the hip strap. After a brief 1min inspection I’m disgusted at this falsely listed item. Seams are coming apart, material is faded on all components (except newly added radio pouch), stains everywhere, dirt, tape residue, button snaps heavily corroded as well as the internal frame metal, a zipper is missing its rubber handle, there are minor tears throughout the belts and the padding in the shoulder strap padding is almost non existent from the heavy use this bag has been obviously through. I didn’t expect brand new, but I sure as heck didn’t pay for nor expect this poor quality bag. I did expect an item in ‘very good’ condition as was the description of my purchase. Maybe my first purchase through them (the military modular sleep system) was a fluke. The only thing in good condition with the ILBE I purchased is the radio pouch and cover. The hip belt is in ok condition minus the stains. The main bag is trashed and so are the shoulder straps. I’m highly disappointed and I’ve sent them an email regarding this situation, if they replace it for one that’s in very good condition than I will consider making purchases from them again. Disappointment level 10/10.

Admittedly, Its a Military Grade Bag.Meaning; Its Rugged, Heavy duty, Unbranded,No-Nonesense ,Primitive,Rudimentary and Somewhat Unappealing but if you are looking for a Fancy,Stylistic, Ostentatious And Colorful Camping Bag Walmart And Dicks Sporting Good Abound With Them/Garbage obviously Made in China and 2-3 times the Price At Army Gear.Great Kudos To Army Gear They Purposely Under promised and Overly Delivered. According to their description I wasn't expecting much in terms of quality but was bracing for a heavily used bag with irreparable wear and tear instead however, my bag was almost faultless.Army Gear Ensured All the rips and tears had been seamlessly repaired, all the buckles and straps were intact but more impressively my bag was delivered within four days of ordering.I Paid 74$ for mine (shipping and all) that is unbeatable. Merry Christmas to you too Army Gear...You Guys Are Exceptionally Good.
