He is a large dog and the bowl is slightly on the small side for him but works adequately. I found if I fastened it to the crate with cable ties it stayed in place better and was harder for him to tip over.I initially tried it on the floor but he managed to get it out of the bracket and when in the bracket on the side he could turn it over by batting it with his paw which is why it only got 4 stars and not 5. It was initially a water bowl but he paws out so much water that I invested in a non-spill car bowl (and cable tied it to the base of the crate) and now use this as a food bowl. The bowl is surprisingly light but capacious and robust enough. The bracket clamps to the bars of the cage with two butterfly nuts on a fixing plate, and this works well. However the bowl fits into a wire loop, the ends of which are bent 90 degrees and brazed to the fixing plate. I've never fully filled the bowl, as it sags significantly in the holder even half full, and might spill if bashed by aforesaid puppy. I purchased these stainless Steel dishes for my Amazon's indoor cage for food and water. I did not realise just how big they would be. (900ml) they are too big for my parrot, but am keeping as they are both a good size for drinking water when I take my dogs for walks, they will be much easier to carry than their 2 drinking bowls. So even though too big for my Amazon, they will be useful for my 4 dogs. I would have preferred that the holder was just a full circle to hold the bowl.
