This is for a birthday gift for m y 12yo son! It is cute and he loves the pixel art, too. The quality of sound is also good!

The media could not be loaded. It's a great device and the LED's on it are stunning. The speakers are loud and the sound quality is also great. The pixel art available is pretty awesome, as well as the (limited) ability of being able to create art yourself. If you're able to get to the point of making art, the screen updates live as you're creating something, which I thought was pretty nice.That brings me to the actual issue. While, itself the product is great, to use the iPhone app you have to be borderline schizophrenic or willingly oblivious to your desires of wanting to achieve a simple task or customization on a device you paid so much money for.The confusion which the app brings, makes it unbearable to use. I ended up having to choose simple artwork that I found and leave it at that as I don't want to ruin it. What initially drew me to this device in particular was the 5th photo, which is labeled 'Smart Clock'. Although it looks really nice in the photo, in actual reality, the border around the numbers is not a perfectly aligned square, which is absolutely ridiculous to me as it shows that the company had to make an altered image just to promote a product. And the fact that they put actual time and effort into falsifying something as minuscule as a perfectly aligned border, out of all things, is what makes it even crazier.I know that it might seem like I am being dramatic, but I got it for a specific reason as I really like things to be in perfect alignment around me. Whether that be the placement of something, or lines connecting a box on a clock which I have to see all day. To top it all off, you also cannot change the color of the border. It makes me truly wonder what the 'developer' was doing, as they were incapable of performing the 1 job they were supposed to, which was to make a useable app.Ultimately, the physical product is great, but the app needs to be completely remade by someone who actually knows how to code, knows what User Experience is, will actually use the app to see what they put on there, and most important of all, has the slightest sense of reality.If you're able to live without having to ever use the app besides the first time, then I definitely recommend it.

As a bluetooth speaker this isn't anything special (it's equivalent to a $20-30 BT speaker I'd say), but the LED display is excellent for a 16x16 display. This is a rather low-res display, so it's really only suitable for displaying some very basic information like time and temperature, but the main feature is the ability to display feeds of pixel art animations or whatever animations you manually select.This might seem a bit childish, but it's not really any different than any other small table art piece except that it's more in the trendy and goofy category rather than classical.It also has a music "visualizer" that's pretty simple. I think it just switches between 16 different images based on amplitude of the audio, but the nice thing about that is that anyone can draw their own visualizer by just creating 16 images.Anyway, this is good for kids and for adults wanting something nerdy or LED-flashy and the quality is pretty good.

Absolutely love this little device that make my music more fun. Speaker is very loud for its size and sound quality is great.100% recommended!

Make sure to check the permissions on the app before purchasing. The Android version asks for permissions that are only needed for harvesting user information, serving ads and possibly serving malware. There's no legitimate reason to ask for permissions to change user settings and draw over other apps for a device like this. That's the sort of thing needed for click-jacking.There needs to be a light app version that cleans up the permissions, using only storage, bluetooth and the option to share an image. Honestly, for a product like this, they should release an SDK for users to interact with it themselves. There's a few hobby projects involving it on a certain popular web SCM site. Not super likely, though. Check out the iOS app (search both stores for "Divoom" to find the apps). There's been 25 updates with the exact same commit message in the changelog:"1.Fix some bugs!2.Optimize part of the function!"Hardly forthcoming. It's almost as bad as the PS4 changelogs. The Android version is even less descriptive. I know it's an international product, but that's no excuse for obfuscating changelogs. Especially with such shifty app permissions. It's *possible* that it's unintentional, but it doesn't really matter from a consumer perspective. It's clearly unsafe. You can't make entertainment apps and ask for the world in permissions like this.It's also worth noting that the only privacy policy is on the website, and it only addresses website usage. App usage isn't discussed at all.I can't install this on my phone because of the security concerns. I guess that's my bad for not doing my homework on the app, though it should be listed in the description. I might look for an old phone not connected to my google account for working with it. More likely, I'll dig around for SDK and projects and skip android usage entirely.
