TLDR: it works and picture quality is good enough but not as easy as plug and play.The product looks nice overall but has a few issues that make it a bigger job than it should be:1. The mounting tabs do not allow you to fully snap them into the trunk lid without modification. I used a knife to cut the tabs back about 1mm to allow it to "sort of" seat into the trunk lid....seems to be good enough.2. The electrical connector is NOWHERE close to fitting my 2002 E39 and the product came with no wires for the trunk switch...just a 2 prong plug. I was about to start cutting my stock wires up and splicing when I realized the stock switch has a clip on it that can be removed and transferred directly onto this one. I just used a zip tie to be sure the metal clip holding the switch on doesn't come off. Trunk still opens just fine.3. The camera power wires are BARELY long enough to get down the trunk lid, through the flexible body grommet and into the trunk. You WILL have to splice on more wire to get to the taillight, battery or whatever power source you pick. 3-4 ft of extra wire would have been nice....especially for this price.

UPDATE: After about 5 months, the trunk switch stopped working. So the only way to open the trunk now if either use the button under the dash or the remote. JUNK!Not bad for a basic BMW backup camera. The camera itself is pretty low resolution and does not have a wide view. However, the unit fit into my E90 328i trunk opening very easily. Overall, you get what you pay for.PROs:- fits nicely into trunk opening- trunk switch feels good and works well- good instructions includedCONs:- poor video quality- narrow range of view, not a wide lens

This product doesn’t fit all camera hookup

I finally got it to work, but i had to install a 12v relay otherwise it just came on and a second later it went off. The rubber around the camera was NOT sitting firmly so i had to remove it and installed the camera without it. The image from the camera could be sharper as well.
