Performs nicely- updated from marginal
I bought this camera to hook up the trailer on my truck. It had better reviews than the competitor. I have a shortbed with no shell so I figured it would be a "no- brainer" for clarity with nothing to go through and mounting the camera high on the lftgate to easily get the signal. However, there is sproradic static and the picture fades in ad out. It's workable but I expected much betterReview update- in an unprecedented act of proactive customer service, the company contacted me regarding my comments about performance. They said updates have been made to the product and asked if I would be interested in a newer version- I agreed and they sent one right out- The newer version performs excellent! The clarity is improved and there was significant improvement in the static to almost nothing. This even after adding a shell that further interferes with the signal- Good job in customer service on a great product!

Works Good - Great Service From Company
When I recieved my camera on Oct 31, I was not happy, as the view was staticy, fuzzy, and the view faded in and out. I believed this was do to interference from other 2.4gz signals, bluetooth, GPS, etc. I decided however to keep it, as I only planned on using it to hitch up my truck, (2013 Silverado),to my travel trailer, and could put up with it for that short of time. My initial satisfaction rating was 2 stars. About a week later, I was contacted by the company, Rear View Safety. The customer service rep said that the company was concerned that their product was not working for me. He said the company had made some changes to the electronics in the camera that greatly reduced interference, and offered to send me a new camera at no cost to try out. I took them up on their offer and recieved a new camera in 4 days, along with a prepaid postage label to return the first one. The second camera worked MUCH better. There is still some slight interference, but I believe you are going to have some with any wireless system. This system is very convenient, takes only a minute to hook up. No wiring, place camera on the tailgate, plug in monitor, backup and hitch the trailer. I am VERY impressed with the customer service provided company. I did not contact them, they contacted me, and were committed to working with me until I was satisfied.

Good video but RF (radio frequency) is line of sight.
By the time I got around to actually using it for hitching up my trailer it was too late to return it to Amazon. At that time I found the display unit to be very grainy and the video intermittent. I wrote a bad review of the unit and got a call from Rear View Safety. They shipped me a new one. I have a pickup and with the replacement camera stuck on the back of the tailgate facing down the picture is grainy but useable. Positioned on top of the tailgate the replacement is clear as a bell. RF is line of sight and doesn't do too well passing through metal, but sitting on top of the tailgate it presents a clear and stable picture of the hitch and about 5 ft extra space behind the hitch. I'm happy with this choice for a hitch camera. Thanks for the great Customer Service Rear View Safety.

Disappointed
I picked this up for my dad for his birthday and Christmas gift. I had read the reviews and was hopeful based upon some of the follow up feedback from other customers that the company had upgraded all of its products to eliminate the static interference. That does not appear to be the case. We tried it out on two different vehicles. It seems to do okay unless there's a cell phone around. Then, the picture varies from mostly to completely obscured by static. Considering that everyone, everywhere, is carrying a cell phone, we're not hopeful about how useful this product is going to be. Further, the cell phone may just be an indication that other devices are going to be problematic as well.I give it three stars because it appears to be useable if both my parents who are now retired and tow a boat and camper frequently, remember to turn off their phones they may be able to use this to get hooked up to the hitch. However, I may follow up this review if we find out that other sources of interference exist that we cannot control. If we already have the updated version then it looks like they still have some problems. If we have an older version, I really have to question the integrity of this company to put out a product with a track record of issues as evidenced by other reviews.

CRAP! This thing is a piece of junk.
I purchased this hitch camera and when it came in I tested it in the house and it seemed like it would be fine. A couple weeks ago I took it with me to the lake and when I put the cam on the tailgate or hitch and tried it with it plugged into the truck it was all fuzz. I ended up having to put it on TOP of the tailgate to get it to work and then it was hit and miss all or nothing and VERY frustrating. THIS THING IS JUNK!!!! I hate it! But now I have had it so long I doubt I can return it.What a waste of $109.99!!!

Very very unhappy! Does not work as advertized.
I have a GMC Denali short bed truck, hauling a 16 foot Airstream trailer. I was hoping to use this to view hitching-up and for backing up my trailer. However, when attached to the truck's tail gate, I found the image is clear for a few seconds then fades to a snowy image. Does not work in the back of the trailer at all (just a snowy picture) I turned off all the things I thought may be an interference, blue tooth, cell phones, etc. which made no difference. I tried using this twice in two different locations. Worked the same both times.

Waste of money
We bought this one thinking it would help my husband load his boat easier. The camera came in a huge box without a bit of instructions or any shipping papers so we could return it. There was no exterior addresses or any way to contact the people about the product. The signal is static and not very reliable. You get a picture for a moment if you are lucky then it fades out. This was over a hundred dollars wasted. It makes me sick to think of how the company did us.

Quick "Plug and View" Backup Camera!!!
I love off-roading and many times I find myself blocked by a fallen tree, river, et cetera, with no space to turn around. This multi- scenario backup camera is a great option for a more customized rear-view, as compared to a mounted camera with a fixed angle. The screen is clear on sunny days and it works relatively well at night. The best part is you can attach to any part of the vehicle and it only requires a 9-volt battery.
