Difficult to assemble but great play value
I assembled the two different models with an eight-year-old and it wasn't as easy to work as most toys. He is rather capable but I don't think he would have been able to do it on his own. It is quite tricky. However, the play value is exceptional. He played with it for over 2 hours the first time and it has been used lots of times since with children down to the age of 4 (with the help of older ones). They love the mechanisms and I have to say that I get a kick out of them as well. It is a rather expensive toy when you look at the plastic parts but it is also rather ingenious. Make sure the parts don't get lost since even one missing part may make the whole model unusable.

Harder than you think
Bought it for my husband as a joke present but as of yet still trying to work it out he said very hard and fragile so children have to be patient

This is s good product and works well. Children will need help building the track as it can be quite tricky.

Fiddly and annoying
If you can create a zen like mental state, you might just scrape together the patience and time to put this toy together. If, however, you gave this toy to your small child for Christmas and they are beyond excited to see it work, then the three hours of absolute calm and serenity you need aren't gonna happen. "Is it ready yet? How does this work? Why does this keep falling off? Why wont this this stick together? Is it broken? Why is it taking so long?? Why ...why ...why??" The only thing more disappointing than the hours and effort you need to put this together is looking at your child's face as they play it for the first time and say "is that it?" And all you can say is "yup - that's it". "bit rubbish" and you can't argue.

Not very impressed.
Not very impressed. For the price, I expected more entertainment. Although it is 'swiss made' it was too fiddly to put together with pieces popping apart as we added the next part. So the construction experience was disappointing and the end result kept my son interested for about 5 minutes.

Educational and great play value.
Bought for my six year old grandson who love construction toy - Lego -Mechano etcHe loves magnets, so this has become an instant favourite. The construction shown on the box takes a while but presented no problems to him.It is also great for learning about polarity in magnets - the set contains a specially marked magnet for checking polarity.Looking forward to exploring other experiments and constructions with him.A word of caution - use this kit on the floor or on a tray! The shiny steel balls used to make connections between the magnetic bars are very "bouncy"
