Q: is this a Chinese or Japanese company and app? Do I have to pay a cloud subscription for it to work?

YoSmart started in Irvine CA in 2014 and we are focusing on smart IoT technologies and products. We are a California Corporation. The cloud service is free and there is no monthly or yearly fee to connect to YoLink service with the lifetime app alert notifications and a limited amount of SMS and email notification messages. You can subscribe for unlimited SMS and calling alert messages.

Q: Can i set it to turn off and on at certain times? Can I turn it off or on via Alexa?

Really sorry that currently YoLink Motion Sensor cannot be turned on/off at a certain time. Now you can only turn on or off the notifications for YoLink Motion Sensor within YoLink APP. But we have taken this into our road map, we will release this in several months. As for Alexa, it also does not support to enable or disable the alert. You can create routines for YoLink Motion Sensor within Alexa App to get voice announcements when a movement is detected.

Q: Is there a way to attach the interior motion sensor (model# ys7804-uc) with screws because it fell off from its adhesive tape after only a few days?

Try using Velcro to hold it in place. I have mine inside the mailbox which is copper. I have not had a problem with the magnet not holding it in place. The sensor lets me know when the mail is being delivered. Commercial velcro is available at the hardware store.

Q: If you already have the hub, can you just purchase the motion sensor by themselves? If so, is there an Amazon link?
