UK two CD collection from the '70s singer/songwriter containing his three original albums plus 16 tracks released posthumously. Jim Croce's untimely death in a airplane crash (in September 1973) came at a point in his career when he seemed set for a lengthy and rewarding career. To the millions of fans he had made through his music, his death was almost like losing a close friend. Jim Croce's emergence to global prominence came in the early 1970's, an era dominated by the confessional singer/songwriter albums such as Carole King's Tapestry, James Taylor's Sweet Baby James and Neil Young's Harvest sold in their multi-millions. This double disc set features a 32 page booklet that includes the lyrics to every song along with the full musician credits, and liner notes by Alan Robinson. Edsel Records. 2011.

Love Jim Croce
If you are approaching the elder part of life and remember Jim, this is a gem of an album. This is MUSIC!!!!!! Not whooping and hollering with foul language and no "singing" at all. Music, real music.

Great, great music
I bought these on cassette years ago and listened to them until they wore out. After that, Greatest Hits were available on CD, but some of my favorite songs were never considered one of those. I am now listening to great music I have been unable to listen to for close to 30 years

With a great price, all you worry about is the sound ...
With a great price, all you worry about is the sound quality. No problems there, so unfortunately for an artist who could have given so much more, it's all there on two CD's.

Don't even get me started....
Jim Croce is my favorite songwriter of all time. This collection includes his 3 popular studio albums and a great collection of stuff on and off his lesser-known releases prior to becoming famous. Every song is a hit in my book and the value is so high and costs so little; every fan should jump on this if they don't have an album or two.

Although not everything song made by Jim Croce was brilliant and original
Although not everything song made by Jim Croce was brilliant and original, every song he ever made is in this album set. A true artist that could execute multiple genres of folk music, Jim Croce will be forever remembered as one of America's finest folk musicians.

great collection
Any Jim Croce fan has most of his music, but if you are just new to JC, then this is the album for you. And, the bonus tracks were great because I had never heard them before. Recommended for any JC fan, and someone looking for how music is supposed to sound and be played.

I got a name for Jim - 'Genius'
Some people say that Jim's songs and style are a little old hat now but I feel confident that post 1973 he would have worked with the top producers and musicians thereafter had he lived. His legacy is here for all to see on this two CD best of that covers his three album releases and a plethora of bonus tracks.Jim had an easy vocal style and his arrangements were relatively simple (but tastefully done) . His lyrics and observations made for entertaining and thought provoking listening. Has any song writer written a better song than 'Time in a bottle'. Harry Chapin was with us until 1981 and for me his music 1973-80 gives a glimpse into how Jim may have evolved musically. We will never know what Jim and Harry would have taught us had they graced our lives in the last 30-40 years but it is time to say thanks guys - you were the ones who spoke to us and still do long after you left us.

Photographs and memories...and much more
A recent Sky documentary and some BBC 4 footage made me remember how I felt when I used to listen to Jim Croce as a teenager in the 70's. The tapes are in some box in some cupboard and I wondered what was available on CD. I was really pleased to find them all on this two CD set! Jim Croce was a great writer who wrote great songs that are as good now as they were forty years ago. We will never know what he would have gone on to achieve if he had not died so young, but he did give us many great songs in a very short career. If you have no idea what I am talking about, buy this set and find out for yourself - you won't be disappointed.

Bittersweet
Ordering this on a whim after realising I hadn't ever replaced much earlier cassette...what a joy. The voice, great lyrics and melodies, especially the slower classics. I suppose your view of Jim Croce will depend on where you were at the time, who with etc.... they are really evocative as well as being memorable in themselves. The bonus tracks didn't particularly impress but the sleeve booklet is a good read. The only trouble with ordering this sort of music from the past is driving through the tears when you stick the CD in on the way to work!!

The original albums
This is too good for words. My wife never likes any of my music, but she loves this. Jim Croce was taken too soon. I would have loved the opportunity to see him in concert had he been around today. Great albums! If you like good music I would recommend this.
