I bought this to power my EOS 450D from an external power supply. Unfortunately, the USB output on the 12v power pack I use to power my telescope mount only supplies 500mA and this unit needs about five times that. Thankfully, I have a USB power bank capable of delivering up to 3A, and this unit works very well with that supply. This unit means I can schedule sessions up to about 10 hours whereas the standard batery expired after only an hour or so. This is a game changer!

Does exactly what I want it to, works through a wall usb plug, and works from my battery pack! Great for filming over long periods of time, or when you run out of battery and need to use your battery pack while out and about!

This did not work with my EOS 500D. The instructions clearly state you must use a 5v power source capable of at least 2A. I tried everything - connecting it to a 5v 2.0A charger, a 5v 2.0A powered (60W) hub, a 5v 2.1A battery pack. I even used a USB Y cable to connect it to 2x 5v 2.0A chargers and then 2x 5v 2.0A ports on the 60W hub. Nothing worked.There is a note on the instructions that says your camera will go into protected mode if it detects a non-genuine battery. I don't know if that's true or not but it suggests the manufacturers even know it won't work. Returned for a refund and I do not recommend this product.

Tenía una batería que estaba muy usada,ya cargaba mal y se descargaba muy pronto, incluso le faltaba energía para usar el enfoque automático en algún objetivo. Mi uso principal es para conectar la cámara al telescopio, alimentando el conjunto con una batería externa he estado noches enteras sin problema de energía con la cámara. La "batería dummy" entraba un poco forzada en su alojamiento,yo lo solucione con un poco de lijado y listo. Es una ayuda muy recomendable.

Funktioniert prima in meiner alten Canon Kamera und ermöglicht so den Einsatz als Webcam auch bei längeren Besprechungen. Zu empfehlen.

La prise/batterie coince un peu dans le logement, elle ne sort pas sans tirer sur le fil.Nécessite effectivement une source USB capable de fournir beaucoup de courant, mais c'est plus la faute de l'appareil photo qui consomme, le pauvre adaptateur ne fait que convertir la tension. Avec une source légère mon 450D peut faire des photos avec le viseur optique, mais pour du LiveView prolongé,il faut effectivement une source USB sérieuse., genre chargeur "Charge rapide" (les prises USB de la multi-prise de mon bureau sont suffisantes).Les prises USB sur un PC ne sont pas forcément suffisantes, mais beaucoup de PC ont une prise USB de charge d'appareils externes (en jaune, si ma mémoire est bonne) qui peut faire l'affaire.
