Before purchase, studied the reviews of alternative LED lantern products.Some have a green LED always on when batteries inserted. Over time this drains batteries so can’t leave stored set up ready to use. The LNT-100 does not have this. When it is off, it is off.Some have a battery compartment that is difficult to access. The LNT-100 has a screw cap on the base that is easy to use.Happy with the build. It has a robust metal handle for hanging or carrying. Some of the reviewed alternatives were reported to have a flimsy plastic handle.The LNT-100 on/off switch is a knob that you turn past the on position to increase the LED brightness (a dimmer). Adjusted to about 20% of the dimmer range there is enough light to cook with a camping stove. When set dimmed, the battery life is extended.For optimum endurance you would use 1.5 V nominal Alkaline use once batteries.Tested the LNT-100 with lower power N.MH rechargeable batteries at 1.2 V nominal. This product worked fine and ran for 68 hours set to maximum LED brightness (getting dimmer towards the end). The LNT-200 ran for 136 hours with this test (getting dimmer towards the end). Then it ran for a further 60 hours but very dim.Also tested the LNT-100 with the dimmer set to about 20% of its range. As it dimmed with time, turned the dimmer knob up a little so that it was just bright enough to cook by throughout the test. It lasted a staggering 413 hours (17 days) on rechargeable batteries. Much longer than I expected, so pleased with this and of course you would not normally be using it 24 hours a day.With a mix of dimmed and bright settings for different tasks during use it would comfortably take you through a UK power cut and also last well on a camping trip.Just what I was looking for and reasonably priced for what it provides.

Brilliant light literally. Best purchase and have used when storm took out electrics and also on camping trips. Sturdy and robust and batteries lasting for ages. Far better than those sold in hardware store/garages.

General household use very bright

The media could not be loaded.  Tried 3 different brands of batteries. Not working at all.

A bit expensive for what it is.the casing is a type of hardened plastic and it says it can withstand falls of 1m... i wouldn't say it would last must more than that.it also says it's shower proof but I can press my nail down between the clear plastic and the housing so if my nail can get in there I'm sure water can and this is where the batteries are housed.Light is excellent off it and am yet to use a full set of batteries in it. It claims to last 41 hours. The dimmable feature is nice and will save the batteries especially if it's just to give you light in a power out.The hook on top is also sturdy but can be pulled out with a bit of force if you need to hang it out of something that it won't hook on to.Shame that seen as Duracell make it that they don't provide any batteries with it.There is a smaller version the LNT-10 (not dimmable) which comes with 3 x AAA batteries and doesn't have the bars protecting the sides of the clear plastic although i think this lantern could do with another 2 bars on it also.
