Thinking About Buying This Radio? Read On:
So youāve got lots and lots of choices out there in internet radios and undoubtedly some are better than others. You MUST consider one main factor First! What is their Search Database like, how easy is it to use And will it have all the offerings that You want? Ocean Digital uses SKYTUNE and others use less capable search databases. I know, Iāve tried most of them. Also, there is another major player out there that has name recognition for 2 reasons. #1 Because they were probably the first in the introduction of internet radios for home consumers And #2 Because their internet database search engine supplier went Out Of Business⦠Thousands upon thousands of their internet radio owners were left without radios that would work.Even those who had just bought new radios were left with what was basically a brick. That well known company is back, again selling well built radios with horrible a database search engine. Avoid those radios, also ālightning may strike twiceā with them!Ocean Digital internet radios work virtually flawlessly. Wonderful SKYTUNE search database, well constructed, reasonably priced and nice designs.Being impressed with my first one, a WR-860, I decided to try their smaller WR-390. That one was as easy to setup as the first one and worked flawlessly. Problem for me was the 860 was really too big for my nightstand so I decided to move it to the den and bought the 390 and it fits great. Got to thinking about a portable smaller internet radio to use in the garage and back yard while grilling. Did the usual Amazon search and read reviews. Man there are some Expensive portable radios out there And some pretty cruddy reviews. Then came across the Ocean Digital WR-18 portable. Man it looked exactly like what I wanted! So I bought it and it came in today. You know what? Wonderful sound that you can set about any way you want, same great SKYTUNE search database, easy peasy setup for my saved presets and recognized my internet WiFi quickly. It was like a mini-me of the other two units. So youāre looking and trying to make an educated decision about What to buy and If it will fill Your Needs, well look no further than Ocean Digital! Your biggest decision is what size is best for you. I hope you enjoy your new Ocean Digital! Iām enjoying minešReal quick note! Remember you need to LONG PRESS the Power Button to turn it on or off.

This is one Fantastic radio/media player!
I was a bit skeptical to purchase this radio but let me tell you, DON'T BE! For the money, this is truly a winner! I had it up and running in just a few minutes. Note, the navigation wheel actually turns. You need to push on it enough to make it actually turn. I thought at first you just slid your finger on it. Wrong! This wheel makes entering your search SO much easier! You can also go to Skytune's website and do this even easier on your computer or phone. Be sure to follow the manuals instructions though! The radios usage is actually very easy. Sound quality is very good for this size and you have a great EQ. It's Really good on headphones! Control of playing a TF card is great too! You can pick folders and songs by name. That wheel makes it so easy and fast, much like an iPod. It charges fast and they actually give you a decent cable. You will find this is a great little gem. The only con I could find is that the FM is not super sensitive but then I didn't get it to use FM and it's more likely due to a short whip antenna. Anything on FM you can get via internet radio! If your jogging, use your phone's mobile hotspot. Most people have unlimited data. As I said, the sound out of this little radio is quite surprising. I was expecting a tinny sound but it actually has some bass to it. You have a lot of choices. Internet radio, TF card, Bluetooth from your phone/tablet and media center (UPnP/DLNA standards). All these work flawlessly. I'm listening to BBC-3 now and it's wonderful! No noise whatsoever, great sound, & best of all, I didn't have to travel to England to hear it! This radio definitely holds your WiFi and Bluetooth signals very well and at a good distance too. I have found several nice things that were not in the manual or not well explained in the manual:1- The < key usage. In every mode and every place, other than in modes it will take you Back a step. So if you're doing an internet search, the < key takes you back to where you were at not back to the top of the list! If you're playing a song from a card, the 1 tap of the < takes you back to the song list at the song your playing. 2 taps takes you back to the folder list! Pretty cool! Practically anyplace you are at the < key will get you back to your play screen if you accidentally tapped a button unless it was a shortcut button. 2- Using the <> during TF card play. The manual states that tapping the Enter key will pause the play. But, a long press on either the < or the > keys will take you back or forward a track! (Hopefully they include this in future manuals) Again, this is one Versatile and Amazing radio! I've had it a several weeks now and played it almost constantly. It very rarely drops out and that is only to automatically switch to either my phones hotspot and back to our WiFi or a public WiFi or if the stream itself has an interruption which happens on occasion. I've actually never had an Internet radio that worked this well. I've had several costing considerably more and larger. Funny how even with remotes they were harder to use and search for stations! The website usage is very simple too. The IP address is shown on the top line alternately when you play any station. Just key in that IP in the URL area and you will be taken to your favorites page. You can add, delete, or move the order of your favorites. Moving them is a little tedious, but hey, the world is not perfect. Overall, I am super happy with this radio! I use it in the car, at home connected to my stereo, in the garage, or just with headphones with good classical music. The sound quality is amazing. The speaker is amazing for the small size of this radio.

This is an expensive very small radio but it does a lot. Great for Internet radio listening.
This radio is smaller than it looked in the pictures. The listing gave the measurements but I ignored them. The screen is very small as well. I use this as an overnight radio almost every night. It perfoms well, and the battery lasts a long time with the screen turned off. When this radio is off the clock doesnt display. I leave it on a shelp plugged in, so a clock would be nice. I saw no setting to change that. I dont use headphones, but the listing says the out put is stereo.Due to the small size of this radio, I dont recommend it as an outdoor radio. I bought the WR-210 years ago, and this one replaced it. The WR-210 was louder, better sounding, and larger overall. Eventualy, the charging port went out, so I bought this one.The battery is not easily replaceable. I will look into it more when the warranty expires. It would be nice to be able to upgrade the battery for longer life.FM reception is terrible. I have other radios for that. BT works, but I rarely need or use it. A WX channel would be nicer instead of an almost useless FM band. I pick up about 3-4 FM stations where I live. A better radio will pick up at least a dozen around here. Easy to set up. Enter your Wi-Fi password and youre in. Search for your favorite stations in Skytune, and hit the save button.Compact sixe is great for travel. Type C charging port charges and light turns green when done. I wish it was bigger. They should make a table sized radio with a large speaker. I would buy one for my kitchen.I took one star off because the clock doesnt disply when the radio is off, and the small size of this radio. The listing pictures were deceptive IMHO. But it does work.
