APPEAR PRETTY DECENT FOR A BUDGET SET OF GOUGES
For the price, not a bad set of gouges out of the box. Theyâre not Freudian, but I donât have Freud $$ yet. Handles are generous and seem well attached. Weâll see how they hold up after a few bowls, and how ell they hold an edge.

Woodturning Tools First Impression
Four stars at this point since I just received the eight-chisel set of woodturning tools. First look is very impressive. The company has done a good job of presenting the tools in a wooden case with the types for each gouge and other tools clearly indicated both on the tool and on a convenient list on the box.I will consider the final star after I've used the set. This "Hurricane" set was recommended to me by a professional woodturner, so I'm looking forward to turning some pieces with it. At this point, my main concern will be the handles. They are long enough, and seem substantial, but I have no information on the depth of the tang or how the steel is fixed into the wood. A secondary concern is that there is no information on the steel itself, other than that it is labelled "HSS" (High Speed Steel), but no further information on hardness, composition, etc. I'm happy that the tools are made of HSS steel, but there can be varieties of that generic form.
