A good overview of the subject

Great for fashion followers

I'm delighted to have been given this book (and Fashion in the 40's by the same author) as a gift. My interest in fashion history is purely amateur but I found this book so illuminating. We all have an image of 20's in our head (think The Great Gatsby, Flappers, The Charleston) but it was fascinating to learn something of the less glamorous side of the period and to see images of 'ordinary' folk. Jayne Shrimpton always writes with clear passion and knowledge but also with precision. A fabulous glimpse into a fascinating epoch.

With its clear and direct style and sumptuous illustrations, this book is a wonderful resource for those wishing to accurately capture 1920s dress for all occasions and members of the family. I highly recommend this book as an engaging read for anyone with an interest in the 1920s.
