Could do better - thanks heavens for third party software
The set up is difficult - the biggest problem is transferring the connection from the wired set up to the wireless operational mode - but there are other idiosyncrasies too.I suffered repeated losses of communication and loss of settings to which Yale didn't respond when I submitted a question via their help system - still waiting after several weeks.Things have settled down a bit now and I've since added a third camera - which suffered exactly the same problems in connecting it to the system as the first two.The biggest help in the whole process was discovering the FLIR Cloud PC based package - can be found here https://help.lorextechnology.com/link/portal/57356/57366/ArticleFolder/184/Apps-SoftwareI'm guessing that the Yale product is badged or at least uses some common platform which means that this software works with the Yale cameras and is very good - if it wasn't for this I'd have sent everything back by now!The FLIR PC package allows you to record from the PC so you don't really need the separate DVR.The iPhone App is also very temperamental - I've not set up my firewall to allow me to view the camera away from my home network but on my home wireless network the connection is forever failing and warning me that its about to use 3G/4G data which is impossible....The next step is to try the FLIR iPhone App and see if that is as good as their PC packageThe camera itself seems well made and my only real criticism here is the retention of the external flying lead for the wired ethernet. I know this is required for set up but this could have been hidden behind the plate that covert eh SD card slot and the reset button and it would have made the unit so much easier to install. So in summary once set up and bedded down it seems to be OK but there is a long way to go before this product lives up to the Yale brand

Terrible - Not As Advertised
This is a terrible product; I had a qualified electrician come out to set this up, and it would not let us add the second wireless IP camera. I connected it to the cable broadband using an ethnet cable first as instructed, and the system kept on saying it had the same host name. We tried everything, to setting up just using the Yale View App, which then made an annoying “cookoo” sound whilst it tried misibrly to connect to my super fast Virgin cable broadband, and wouldn’t. The DVR is also very noisey, and you could not have this in a living room as the photos illustrate, as the fan is really loud. The instructions are also vague, and when trying to call Yale technical support, they were experiencing higher normal call volumes, so decided to return. This, in my opinion, as someone interested in technology and having a qualified electrician with me to setup, was a terrible product by Yale, and needs to go back to the design room. I never do reviews, but after the mess and out of pocket expense this has left me with having an electrician out to fit and cut holes in my outside fascia; I had to warn others before buying.

Very Poor - LOTS of firmware fixes needed
This is a very capable and we'll built system which is, for the most part, unusable: Cameras frequently disappear from the NVR for up to ten minutes at a time and when they are connected they only update the image every few seconds resulting in stuttering video. The app is even worse in that it rarely connects to all of my cameras, and can only playback in real time, starting from the beginning of the hour! These cameras are advertised as being part of the smart home system but do not be fooled...they do not integrate at all as I require a separate account and app for my cctv, my alarm, and my home view cameras - it is possible to connect the homeview camera to the NVR but only after enabling ONVIF in the home view camera so if you are not technically minded you can forget it. The only reason I am not sending this terrible system back is the gaping holes I would leave in the side of my house. Poor form from such a reputable brand.

Not impressed by product or customer support
Not impressed at all. Instructions are a bit sparse but managed to complete all the steps. When I went to install cameras via wifi one camera wouldn't connect. Accessed Yale website, total waste of time, phoned help desk ("very busy due to high volume of calls" - that didn't inspire any confidence) after a few minutes of unhelpfulness like try unplugging it and plug it back in again, the only suggestion was pack it all up in its box and return it to Amazon. I will now do that but I don't think I will be reordering another one.

Durable looking product with good support from manufacturers.
Easy to set up and install, great support from Yale when I had trouble with weak WiFi signal. System is easy to use and able to view from mobile and save images and video to mobile too.

Make sure your home wifi network is good.
I initially had a nightmare trying to install this in a home with a 100MB Virgin Superhub.I naively assumed that my network would easily cope with the installation of a couple of cameras. It didn't and I wrongly assumed that the issue lay with the Yale CCTV system. After A LOT of messing about I finally discovered that although I had a speed of 100MB coming into the house via wired cable the wifi beamed out by the Virgin Superhub (router) was running like a snail. A quick google search revealed that Virgin's kit is not very well regarded. The upshot was after installing a BT Whole Home Wifi kit to my router the CCTV ran like a dream. So before installing, check your home wifi network for dead spots especially as you are likely to be installing these cameras on the outside of a brick wall of your home. The Hard Drive and App software could be more user friendly but it's not too hard to decipher, as mentioned in other reviews meaningful instructions are a little thin on the ground. Finally, I can't stress enough, check your network before installing. This may well save your sanity.
