Forgiveness, Freedom and Hope
How can one small book on a complex subject be so readable and offer so much wisdom? Without staying in the shallow end, this book invites the reader in, and with gentle guidance and theological truths, moves through both the "why's" and the "how to's" of receiving and offering the gift of forgiveness. Includes 11 chapters in only 130 pages with thoughtful questions for reflection at the end of each chapter; 'good for individual or small group study. For anyone who wishes to go to the heart of the matter.... I've read and will re-read and have ordered several to share.

This is the best book on forgiveness that I have read to date ...
This is the best book on forgiveness that I have read to date (and I have read quite a bit on the subject). It gave me concrete steps and things I can do to move along towards the forgiveness Christ wants me to achieve.

A good step in the right direction
The author states her aim when she wrote, “I have written this book to say, ‘Hold out for hope, because the blessings and benefits of forgiveness are far greater than you may think.’” (Page 6)."Moving On - Beyond Forgive and Forget" is rooted in the Bible's teaching, and uses many verses and passages to support a cardinal doctrine of the Christian faith.Chapter three, “First Steps Toward Forgiveness,” addresses the reality that people need to experience God’s forgiveness first by responding to the gospel. This provides the basis for extending forgiveness to others. Each chapter concludes with a section, “Questions for Reflection,” and offers practical instruction for personal application. The following is just a sample of questions taken from chapter three mentioned above:“1. How do you suppose Peter thought Jesus might answer him about how often we are to forgive? How do you think he felt when Jesus did respond to his question? [Re: Matthew 18]2. What are some things in your life that are part of the debt Jesus gave his life to pay?3. What kind of loss do you imagine you will have to deal with as you forgive?” (Page 39).I appreciated the author integrating the Bible’s teaching on forgiveness and offering practical steps to apply it.

The 5 Ws and an H of Forgiveness.
This was a great little read that was packed with helpful teaching on forgiveness. However, what made it stand out was the simple demonstration of truths. Ideas and concepts were not left floating in abstractness, but Batstone used personal experiences and stories drawn from counseling situations to draw us in practically. Really, this will be my go-to guide when discussing or teaching about forgiveness.
