Excellent RPG which captures the flavor of the World of Equestria!
This is a REALLY well-designed RPG for the younger crowd. I'm not a Pony fan myself -- I don't mind them at all, but I'm not tremendously into them -- but my little girls are, and they wanted to play, so I got a copy. The character creation is probably the smoothest creation process I've yet come across. I made three characters in an hour or so with my players. The process takes you through selecting your Pony type (Earth, Pegasus, Unicorn for the base game -- others are added in supplements), your stats (Body, Mind, Charm), talents and quirks, your Element of Harmony, and even equipment. There's a good selection of talents (ranging from the Telekinesis natural to Unicorns to Artistic Flair) and the book makes it clear that the GM and player can create new ones. The base mechanic of Tails of Equestria is pretty interesting; while "roll a die or dice and see if you hit a target number" is the basic process for many if not most RPGs, in Tails of Equestria the way you increase your skill with a talent is to increase the TYPE of die that you roll (d4, d6, d8, etc.). I don't know how well this would hold up in the long run, but it seems to work pretty well here. The game assumes you know what My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic IS, but it doesn't assume you know much more than that. There are quick summaries of all the key elements you need to know in order to play or run in Equestria. There's a nice little map included as well. In addition, it also includes a quick summary of what an RPG is, and why it's different than most games. The existence of "Friendship Tokens" is an important mechanic that gives the PLAYERS some control over the game, as the Tokens can be spent to re-roll dice or even outright allow you to succeed at an important task. While many games have such a mechanic, the Tokens actually reflect part of the NATURE of Equestria, in that earning more of them isn't just a matter of finishing some quest, but how your character exemplifies their chosen Element of Harmony and/or their Cutie Mark talent. The latter part of the book includes a very nice starter adventure for up to about six characters. It's a VERY "My Little Pony" adventure, in which your Ponies end up house and pet-sitting for Fluttershy and her friends. Naturally something Goes Wrong and the pets scatter into the nearby forest; the PCs then get to try to track them down and save them from whatever trouble they've gotten into.Overall, this is one of the best new RPGs I've tried in years. Highly recommended for anyone who'd like to really visit Equestria!

Love it
Our children LOVE My Little Pony. The issue is, we can only play with their board games and figure toys for so long. This is a role playing game, very similar to D&D, except you are playing with My Little Pony games in their world. This is a HUGE hit and is very fun for the family to play!

great to get your kids into RPG's
This is perfect for getting your kids into roll playing. We play D&D weekly with our friends and have wanted to find a similar game to play with our 7 year old and then we found this. We have played and she loves it. The fact that My little pony has so much lore in it already makes it a perfect introduction to roll playing. It's simple enough that kids get it and has all the fun elements that adults like with traditional D&D on an age appropriate level.

My daughter and I enjoy playing this game
My daughter and I enjoy playing this game. This story module is put together in such a way that it made it easier for me to run the game for both of us.
