The reason it's not rubber is the old style rubber plugs were considered a fire hazard, and as far as I know are not allowed by the British Standard these days.Still, it's tough enough, and easy enough to fit, albeit it suffers from the usual annoyance that all 3 wires need to be different lengths. Good quality terminals and cord grip, though I was surprised to find the screws for the cord grip are not captive - if you undo one completely to swivel the cord grip out of the way, the screw will fall out.

The inside of this plug is exactly standard. The outside looks like the picture. It is not rubber but seems a little stronger than a normal plug. Not made in the UK anymore. Whatever costs are saved by this decision are certainly not being passed on to the consumer. An older UK version has stood the test of time for me - hopefully this one will do the same. Overpriced by any standards though.

Excellent rubber plug, we've used it on our iron, the plug gets forever gets dropped on the floor. So it's very good at lasting.

Works fine, and looks good but doesn't seem to be rubber. I may had unrealistic expectations but I thought it would be a thick, tough rubber casing to protect against knocks but just a normal hard plastic and lightweight plug.

I love these plugs, they are durable and hardy. They take a lot of punishment...
