Good price! Good size! Good quality! What is not to like.
My wife purchased me an Amazon Echo as a Christmas present two years ago. It is a nice gadget but you can only ask it to play music or tell you about the weather so many times before you want more out of the system. She got me a socket from one of the big name brands and it was nice as long as it lasted. I said well I will just buy another one and then I found out how much my wife spent. I started a year long search for a replacement smart socket that met three criteria.1. It had to fit a standard wall socket and leave enough room for another electrical cord in a standard duplex outlet. The YCGRE was a perfect fit. I included a picture of the Mini Smart socket plugged into one of the wall sockets in our kitchen and you can see even with a fairly bulky plug on a heavy duty extension cord that both items fit comfortably.2. It had to be reliable. I am a retired engineer and active amateur radio operator. If I don't have enough test equipment to run this item through its paces then I might as well give it all up. The Smart Socket performed flawlessly. Comments from the Amazon community seem to also indicate this will work for many years.3. It had to be cheap. Come on folks, at forty-five bucks a socket from a big company it really slows down the desire to purchase and use this class of gadget. The pricing on this little gem is perfect. I can snag three of the YCGRE Mini Smart Sockets for just one big name. There were other pluses on top of the three mandatory. I researched the company since I had never heard of them prior to this. Turns out it is a smallish, fairly new company that specializes in just this kind of product. Their dedication to good customer service is obvious from their prompt responses just here in Amazon. They are turning out a quality product. The instruction sheet could be improved but that is really nit-picking. All in all this a product that will see several more purchases as my "go to" item for my developing smart home.

Simple plug but works good
Small form factor smart plug that is easy to set up and works great with Amazon Alexa. I've been waiting a while to get on this smart home internet of things train. The time has finally come. This little plug is very basic for a good price. And when I say "little plug," I mean it because it allows you to still use the other plug on a regular outlet for typical spade plugs m. This is unlike a lot of other devices that hog the whole outlet. That's a huge plus for me because I am using this in a bedroom for a light, and need the other plug to power the clock radio, which of course should not be controlled by a switch. So, my main goal was to finally get something to use my bedroom light. The electric in the house didn't originally have a switched outlet. Bummer! I've been thinking about getting that fixed, but it is too expensive. Well, here's my solution! Now that we have an Amazon Echo Dot nearby, it works great. Setup was easier than expected. No hub required. You do have to download the app to a phone, but it did open up setup right away, and picked my strongest router Wifi. I put in the password and was good to go with the app. This is a basic plug, so it is just on/off, timer etc. That's usually all you need. As I said, I really want Alexa to control this. So, I open the Alexa app, enable smart home devices since I had not already done that. Then search for the device. It found it after 20 seconds, no problem at all. I read another review where someone had a hard time doing this. That's too bad. Not sure what went wrong, but in my case it worked great. I DO wish I had changed my device name in the app first. It was some generic long name. So, I had to go back into the app and change it to "Bedroom Light." Then I went to Alexa and did another search. It said it didn't find anything new, but did manage to find the new name. Now, I can walk into my bedroom and say, "Alexa: turn on bedroom light" and boom, done. Better than a Clapper(tm). I probably won't use the app again except to install more devices, or change passwords if I change routers. Alexa voice control is the way to go.

Looks good, dependable operation.
The media could not be loaded. This is a plug that seems to be identical to some other Amazon offerings with various brandings, but sharing the JH-G01U model number, and using Tuya Inc.’s Smartlife/Smart software. From initial use and impressions, it seems that this particular plug is chosen by these importers for a good reason. Here are some notes:-- Small footprint. These smart plugs house a circuit board in there with wifi and other chips. Crowding the nearby plug can be an issue. This plug has a centrally located prong and manages to just clear the neighboring plug on a standard wall outlet (see photo), placed in either outlet. This is not universally true in some of the popular plugs here on Amazon, as some “mini” plugs sometimes have lopsided design that only let it fit on the bottom plug but will block the other outlet when placed on top. (will supply more info on this later).-- Low energy consumption. Using a meter to test, the plug uses less than 0.5w (not measurable with the meter) after setup and turned off. Without anything plugged in, it uses around 1w when turned on. This is typical across many decent smart plugs, and is relatively efficient considering there’s a WiFi circuit that’s always on standby.-- Sturdy construction with good plastic. It looks like ABS plastic with glue sealed housing. Tactile feel on the power switch button. No defects such as scratches or scuffs out of the box. The outlet isn’t overly tight like some I’ve encountered.-- Tuya SmartLife works well for my uses, with good interface and easy set up. You do need to register for an account, like other apps. If you plan on getting more of these JH-G01U models (they are usually branded differently but appears identical), they are all compatible with Tuya. There’s something strange though, that they offer a “SmartLife” and “Smart”, with no real noticeable difference, except that you have to register for each, despite from the same company. It has an interesting “scene” mode that can actuate your switch based on temerature, humidity, sunset/sunrise, which are all location specific information. There doesn’t appear to be any power meter features, however. The programming/scene setup on my plug continued to run even after the app was removed.-- Linking to Google Assistant for my uses. It works just like any other. Link to the Tuya native app, then link to Tuya’s Smartlife via Google Home. Then I can voice control it from either a Google Home device (a mini in my case), or from my phone’s Google Assistant. It has the same procedures and quirks with any Google Home device, but the quirks being mostly Google’s setup scheme needing a bit polishing. It works with Alexa too, though I don’t have one.-- The light from the switch can be a little bright when turned on. A minor quibble.Overall I find this item to be pretty reliable, with good quality construction and pleasant appearance. It leaves just enough room for a basic adjacent plug, and doesn’t use much electricity to operate. So far the software has been dependable, configuring the plug easily, with good UI design and programmed schedule stay with the plug even without the app installed. Pairing with Google Assistant was easy with the included instructions. The combination of quality, design, affordability, and dependable operation, makes this a good choice for consumers and importers alike, if the popularity of this plug under various brands on Amazon are any indication.

Something I never knew I needed!
I didn’t have high expectations for this product, but wow, I was impressed. It was only $14.99 so I didn’t expect it to feel super solid and tough, but it does feel durable. The on/off button is a solid, clicking, button and even when you use the app you hear the click which is awesome. Everything I plugged in works fine and doesn’t have an issue. I use this in the washroom because sometimes we plug in a heater or irony and get worried if we left them on when we’re out. Sometimes it would make us drive home and check! Now we don’t have to because we can just use the app to check and turn it off if need be. Another thing I look forward to doing is charging my phone using one. I plan on probably getting another one to use so I can have a separate for charging and won’t have to keep moving stuff around. The schedule feature is really cool and it can stop me from over charging my phone. Also I think the “scene” modes would be super cool if you have them connected to your lamps so when it gets dark outside you can have them turn on automatically.Overall I definitely see myself getting more. It’s worth the price compared to other more expensive ones. I don’t see why you would waste your money when this one is perfect and does the job. The app is very stable, smooth and easy to use. Really there isn’t any issues - maybe just that you can’t use two in one plug!

Solid smart plug
Solid and durable smart plug. It already fell from 5 feet height, by accident, and nothing happened to it. Works flawlessly. Setting up takes 5 minutes. You just need to download the app and then connect the app to your Wi-Fi . It also had an firmwire update waiting- when I first ran it. Now that’s a sign of a product that is well supported. Often , these units don’t get any updates. I am able to turn it off and on with the app. However, I am still not able to connect it to Alexa. But that’s probably just my fault, I am very new to Alexa.
