Best lava lamp filter I've purchased
I purchased this filter strictly to filter lava lamps. I typically do it by hand and curse myself half way through for nothing having a pump. So I purchased this bad boy and let me tell you. I knocked out 6 lamps in no time with this pump. They are crystal clear and set up was easy. I will never filter them by hand again. The pump was easy to take the filters off and clean and no residule colors were left behind. It packs up small and neat, so it doesn't take up a lot of storage room..

Changed my routine
I don't camp like I used to anymore. I've gotten to the point where I like to actually enjoy the camp more than the hike. One of the biggest detractors in my earlier days was pumping to filter water. Hated it.This guy... Savior. Set it up, push button, check on it every so often while finishing other camp chores. It's a little heavier than your normal Backcountry filter but just as compact as most. The automatic pumping absolutely makes up for the weight. For my uses so far, it has done a great job of filtering various sources of water ranging from spring fed creeks to slightly muddy puddles. The one thing it doesn't seem to do so well is clean up the taste. It works, but there always seems to be some off tasting note to the water. I expected a bit more from a multistage filter. The unit is well made, great feel in the hands. The shell is actually a little rubberized so it doesn't slip when wet.Great value all around. Would buy more if the need arises.

Can automagically filter lava lamps.
IMPORTANT: YOU MUST REMOVE THE CARBON FILTER ON THE BOTTOM OF THE UNITS MAIN FILTER TO NOT DESTROY THE LAVA LAMP CHEMICALS.I ordered a Grande lava lamp from Walmart and it came very cloudy as pictured on the left. I decided to filter it based off of some suggestions and found this filter. I was instructed to remove the carbon filter as it would destroy the surfactants in the master fluid. As you can see this worked very well. 10/10 recommended

Do not buy. here's my problem
So why the heck would you make a water pump not water proof? I ran this when it got here to clean it and see how it works, it ran great for the half gallon of water I ran through it so I set it out to dry and packed it up the next day. 2 days later the pump turned on by itself so I turned it off set it aside thinking i dropped something on it and it hit the power. A few minutes later I hear it pumping again so I ake it back out pressed the power button but it wouldn't shut off. I pressed that button alot but still wouldn't shut off. Finally I pressed the button as fast and as much as I could and it Finally shut off just to restart itself again a few minutes later and they tell you on there "internal water isn't covered" for a dang water pump. So much wasted money.

Clutch for Hurricane Helene
I live in Asheville, North Carolina and our entire water infrastructure was destroyed and most of us went without water for 2-3 weeks. After finally getting water we had to either boil the water or treat it with a filter. Even boiling water the turbidity of the water was quite dirty, so I used this filter (originally intended for backpacking) to filter it out water. I did a 4 gallon collapsible container in about 20 minutes of tap water. It does little a little around the filter, but overall decent design and the water taste clean and doesn’t smell like over chlorinated water, which our water is right now.
