I probably use this pedal too much....
I've always had some kind of pitch shifting/octave pedal in my set up and this is one of the best I've used. Can be used to double an octave above, octave below and both together. The pitch shifting, particularly an octave higher, seems far less robotic than I've heard with other pedals and sounds really quite natural. With just the right settings it can almost sound like a 12 string, albeit with less warmth, and I often use it to bring out harmonics which can sound really nice. In fact I even sometimes use it with my electric 12 string and even this sounds pretty good to my ears in certain situations. Combined with a chorus pedal with both the low and high octaves dialled in you can get quite a convincing organ like sound which is a lot of fun. Only thing that would've nice would be the ability to combine it with an expression pedal but not really an issue for me.

it's the real thing
bought it as a present. I've seen it in action and it's no wonder this is one of the best octave pedals out there. It is a great addition to any pedal board, you won't be sorry.

POG smacked
The reason I went for the POG was the colour of the sounds it generates. With the Boss Octaver for example you get a sub and 1 up octave which is great BUT the POG has this almost organ like shimmer thing going on. Now if you don't want that then fine but I have to say it really gives a fabulous tone.A bit expensive considering it's lite weight and austerity type cardboard box and I think the warranty is USA only. Could be wrong. However even though it is expensive the tone is lovely. Have a look on youtube for some examples.

Byrds on a budget...
Nice bit of kit with plenty of flexibility in what it will deliver. In common with most people who buy this (I guess), I was looking for something that would give me that Byrds jingle-jangle without having to spend the thick end of £2,000 on a Rickenbacker 360. This comes pretty close, and certainly gives the right kind of feel, thickening the sound out nicely in the bass to mid ranges and providing that keening quality at the high end. Note that it allows you to go an octave up or down, or mix the two - for me it was a mix of 25% sub-octave and 50-75% octave up that gave the best sound.Bear in mind that this gives you an octave up on all six strings, not as on a real 12-string where the top two strings are simple pairs, so it can sound pretty shrill if you don't compensate a bit with the sub-octave. You can also get a pretty good bass sound out of a guitar using the sub-octave - maybe not good enough for live but useful for recording. Maybe varies from guitar to guitar, but in general I got the best sound out the POG using humbuckers rather than P90 pickups.Nice solid, metal box, no hint of flimsiness at all. Not cheap, but if this is what you need it's decent value.

You get what you pay for.
This is a pricey pedal, but beats the cheaper ones hands down, so it's worth it. I've tried a couple of less expensive ones, and they don't track the notes properly, and get confused when you play more than one note. This is simple to use, and does the job as soon as you plug it in, and sound amazing, whether you're trying to imitate a 12 string or a bass, or running it through a fuzz pedal to get Hendrix, Jack White or Lenny Kravitz type sounds. I wouldn't waste time trying out the cheap ones, only to sell them on again, save your money up and buy this.

It really works
Simple and does what it says on the box. Works much better than any other octave pedal I've ever tried.

great creative tool....accurate tracking and clear tone
A really great piece of kit, can tune and track almost perfectly dense chords and clusters, even complicated chords and pitch them up or down an octave or both. can be a really fun creative tool for getting new tones and textures by subtly blending in etc....well worth having.

Good pedal but is it obsolete???
Classic pedal from EHX. The only issue I have is that within 2 weeks of my buying this, they brought out the Pitch Fork which seems to more-or-less the same thing but with added flexibility of pitches other than octaves, smaller footprint and cheaper price!!!Then... I got stung again with an EHX Phaser! They just brought out a reissue of their vintage phaser after I just bought their Small Stone phaser.ARRRGGGHHH!!!However in use this is what I have found:1) If I want to sound like a bass player a tiny bit of dry signal leaks through even with the dial turned all the way. This is not disastrous because didn't buy it to replace a bass guitarist but if you are using a looper to build a bass line it might be worth considering.2) I mostly use it to sound like a Cuban tres (a bit like a 12 string guitar except with 3 pairs of strings) so I use the octave up setting a lot. It sounds at its most natural with a hint of the high octave rather than 50/50. Otherwise, it starts sounding more like a church organ or some such. It's a good pedal, but take a quick look at the EHX Pitch Fork before buying.

POG - Octaver Electro Harmonix
Merci Electro Harmonix
