Mil-TecMOLLE Tactical Assault Backpack

Comfortable, well made and rugged.
These packs are incredibly useful indeed. I served 10 years in the armed forces and whilst the updated/improved PLCE webbing systems were becoming more widely available to us, additional modular kit like this with the PALS/MOLLE system would have been an absolute game changer and made life a hell of a lot easier!! The PALS webbing and the straps on the back of the modular pouches are a little fiddly to weave correctly, but once in place they're sturdy and reliable. This kit isn't just ideal for military or police, cadets, etc., etc., it has countless other uses whether that may be professionally or recreationally. The external straps (with quick release clips) tightens the exterior of the pack right down onto the contents within, (think of the pack as an accordion, the looser these straps the wider the pack can open out and expand, and vice versa); This helps to keep the profile as low as possible and it stops anything inside shifting around meaning there's no weight actively swinging around when you're on the move that can cause discomfort. The shoulder and waist straps are well padded and are very comfortable, as is the pack itself, (which also has an area of padding for your back). There's no sternum strap, but the shoulder pads are specifically shaped and are rigid enough that it's not really needed on such a small pack, especially with a waist strap too, (if necessary you can add an aftermarket strap however). Whilst I'll never be using it for the purpose, there's room for a decent sized water bladder (roughly 2 L) which has an external pocket and sits between the back padding and the exterior wall of the main compartment. For those that don't like water bladders, simply purchase 1 or 2 MOLLE water bottle/flask pouches and attach them wherever you prefer externally or carry in main compartment. The smaller external compartments are also handy to keep certain smaller items separate but this does come at the cost of a small loss of overall capacity to the main compartments. However, the pack has plenty of PALS webbing on the back and sides to add on a variety of MOLLE pouches/accessories as required. There are some additional zipped pockets, mesh pockets and dividers inside, as well as some pen/pencil dividers. They are well made, I've subjected mine to levels of tests and abuse that it'll never actually be relied upon to perform and absolutely nothing has ever given way or torn. Decent quality zips and quick release clips, and a well thought out design in general. Excellent finish too, they do look good. Ideal as a day pack or a light overnight bag, etc., etc. You can fit more in them than you may initially realise and there is the ability to attach various types of MOLLE pouches to add more carrying capacity too. Otherwise, internal space is still quite restricted IMHO. If you know you'll frequently need some additional capacity, you're uncertain if a 20 L pack will actually be large enough, or often need to carry extra items with you than others (for whatever reason), you may be better off with the slightly larger 36 L version, (remembering that you can also adjust them in the same manner as described above to control the overall size once packed).*** Newer versions have laser cut attachment slots directly into the outer material rather than the ladder webbing being stitched on externally. The weight this saves would be marginal to unnoticeable on a pack of this size and the good thing about the external ladder webbing is you can easily feed all sorts of other items through the loops for external storage in addition to the modular kit. ***. Either way, these packs can be incredibly useful for anyone for a variety of purposes. Definitely recommended. 5/5.

What you can get in a 20 litre bag, and what you probably can't.
I haven't had his bag for long, so I can't comment on how tough it is, but I thought it worth letting anyone who is thinking of buying a 20 litre bag what you can actually fit in it.The bag has 4 separate compartments and they are, in increasing size, just about right for ...1. A glasses case2. A book or camera3. A bike D lock4. A laptop. So, I think this is a perfectly good size for a general day sack, but if you are wanting to use it for being out on the mountains you may want to go for a bigger size because I don't think it'll take waterproofs, jumper and camera very easily. Neither will the largest compartment take an A4 Lever Arch file. But, it's a nice bag that feels like the material will last quite a lot of punishment. Time will tell if the zips hold up as I notice one or two reviewers have had problems in this area.Update: It's now November 2018 and I've had the bag since April, so 7 months. Sad to report that, like some other reviews, the zip on the large compartment is now beginning to fail as I sometimes find it has opened itself, presumably under a small amount of stress. Very disappointed in this because the rest of the bag is as good as new. So I've now given it a score 3* and not 4 which, to be honest, right now feels a tad generous.Final update. Having now had this rucksack for a year, the zip on the main compartment has completely failed and I've put this bag in the bin as it is no longer usable. I hope the manufacturer has read this review, and others like it, and found a solution to what is clearly a design fault with the zips.

Great VFM
This is a well made little pack & I bought it to carry everyday items to work & back.It has a big compartment that I use for my gym gear but you could use it for anything, you could get several books in there or probably a medium chicken from Morrison's along with various items from the world foods Isle. The next compartment is slightly smaller, I keep my tablet in there because sometimes the guys I work with bore me to tears so I just pull that bad boy out & ignore them. It's quite well protected in there & you could probably get a laptop in if you're a bit posh. The other compartments are handy too, I have a paper notebook & pens in the one & also keep my wallet in there on the days that I can prize it out of my wife's cold emotionless hands. The little compartment is perfect for chargers & things like that. But let's be honest with ourselves, most people who buy this ain't going to storm an embassy anytime soon so just how tactical it'll be remains a mystery. What I will say is this, if you weren't in the military don't buy a military coloured one, you will look a bit of a plonker. All in all, it's a rugged bag with good zips (not like those zips on a kids school coat) & it's very masculine (although this is 2021 & it's not a Yorkie, girls can use it too), the 20l suits my needs but it is very compact so think about how much stuff you wanna carry them decide.

Great! Tip: use the hip strap as a chest strap
I've used this bag almost everyday for 9 months and it's holding well, only one part is getting the bit worn but I'm very happy with it for the price.I recommend you try out this : take the two straps that come meant for clipping at the waist and instead attach them through the shoulder straps as a chest strap - for me it holds the bag much more comfortably. See photos fro how I've done thisThe many pockets and organisers make this the most useful backpack. Webbing is great for clipping bike lights or other things to. I suggest some "web dominators" and looking for other web compatible side pockets to give you versatility when you need to pack more things on it.Beware that it is NOT waterproof - the bag material IS but the zips are NOT, so in any rain more than a light shower, the water goes right through the zips (every pocket) and will get stuff damp. I've had papers in it wrinkle from a 20 minute walk in the rain, so use a bag cover if this concerns you.
