Chinese Lantern - Purple

These produce no actual light - at night they simply glow very slightly so you can just about see the lantern itself, but it casts no light outside of itself.

A lovely green glow, makes my garden look lovely!

These Chinese Lanterns bring decoration and charm to your patio or conservatory without fire risk. Each lantern has a solar panel which charges up an internal (pre-fitted and replaceable) AAA (NI-MH) cell during the day and, after dusk, if switched on, the lamp will reward you with a warm glow for up to 8 hours, In the package you get the lantern(s), internal wire extender(s), instructions and an invitation card from Helios Creations giving you contact/support details plus inviting you to register. The instructions use both text and pictures and are clear plus, they give you hints to get the best out of the lanterns and troubleshoot etc. I was supplied with a pack of three lanterns for this review in green, orange and violet.The body of the lantern is made from a coloured nylon type material with horizontal wire ribbing and, although the lanterns come flat packed, the supplied wire extender is easily fitted inside to fully expand the lantern. Once extended the lantern is about 30cm high and roughly the size of a football. There are also integral hangers with hooks designed to ensure the lantern hangs level. As the lamps are lightweight, if the conditions are windy, you can open the body of the lantern and add "ballast" in the form of a few stones etc. to weigh them down. Another tip is that to get going we turned the lights off for a couple days and left them in the direct sunshine to make sure they were fully charged. After that even the UK sun in our conservatory seemed enough to keep them topped up and give us several hours of output after dusk.We installed the lanterns in the conservatory over Easter and left the roof blinds open although, the instructions say the solar cells work best in direct sunlight. The light given off is an atmospheric glow rather than a substitute for electric lighting but that is the intention and charm of these lanterns. I also find I can relax more because unlike Chinese lanterns I've used in the past there is no flame involved. Some of our guests also commented how much they liked these lanterns.These nylon Chinese lanterns are much more durable than the paper ones but I'd still suggest you protect them from wet weather and they can be cleaned with a damp cloth - don't neglect the solar panel either as it needs to be clean to work effectively. If the summer's good these lanterns should be ideal for the patio and at barbeques etc.We really enjoy the lanterns which bring a touch of colour into the conservatory where they work well and impart a bit of extra atmosphere. These solar Chinese lanterns lights are so incredibly pretty. I have several hung around our patio and the effect is quite striking and we have had lovely comments from guests.The lanterns are made from nylon type fabric and come flat packed. The lanterns are easy to assemble - you simply need to fit the metal inner supplied and switch on and hang in your chosen position via the hook on the top of the lantern.The instructions are comprehensive and are very clear and well written.Overall these lanterns are really pretty and produce lovely lighting effects.
