Stella - Series 3 [DVD]

Best ever Stella!
I absolutely loved this series of Stella, it's my favourite one yet. I love the new characters (particularly Michael and his relationship with Stella) and found the whole thing so well written and performed I'm in complete awe of the talents of those involved. There is some real comedy gold here, but it's also incredibly emotional and moving at times. I could watch this all day long and am counting down to the Christmas special and season 4. Huge thanks to Ruth Jones and the team for coming up with such quality - this is easily the best thing I've seen on tv for years. Enjoy!

Not as good as Series 1 and 2 - but still loved it!
I adored the first two series and found them both moving and funny. I was brought up in Wales and could relate to some of the characters really well. However, Series 3 almost tried too hard to be funny, to the point where some of the scenes were really silly. Ruth Jones was fantastic as always, (although shame about the bleached hair as she looked so fantastic in Series 2), and I think we all warmed to neighbour Michael Jackson after a couple of episodes. The biggest let down was Auntie Brenda's overacting - a little of her goes a long way! Also the lack of some of the previous characters, principally Paula and Dai. The undertakers' role was definitely not the same without Paula, and Daddy sort of lost his sidekick role as a result. The nursing tutor was also miscast and rather nonsensical, and that's why I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5. Having said that I still enjoyed it immensly and look forward to another series, but let's have less of the sillyness and more of the emotive stuff please!

STELLA, LOVEIT,LOVE IT, LOVE IT
Loved it, but that woman with the pram is still in it ,WHY???? her lines are such a bad Ad for all the lovely people of the valleys ,I find that part very irritating.. Is it because I am originally a scouser ( but lived in south wales since 1980), and not born and bred in the valleys? I did laugh out loud at this series , I know this is a bit sick but the coffin scenes in the church were very funny (because they were only fiction) it would be my worst nightmare if it really did happen like that. to anyone I loved. It is in fact a funeral directors worst nightmare l!! It was good watching it all at once as you don't lose the continuity like you do, watching it weekly on the box. Having been a nurse myself for over 30 years in Cardiff and the valleys, I think there is loads of material out there for another series ,please do another one. ,Stella could be a district nurse,( in training) imagine the fun they could have with that one.!!

Brilliant Stuff
Hitting the third series in her stride, Ruth Jones has created another little gem of a series, maybe not quite as strong as series 2, but good nonetheless. We miss Dai and Paula, definitely, but there are plenty of fun goings on at the funeral parlour to nearly make up for them being "away" in Tenerife. The return of Auntie Brenda's daughter, Vivienne, brings a whole load of New Age tosh to Pontybery. And for Stella, there's a new man on the horizon. If you haven't seen it on Sky, get into it. Stella is a treasure of good telly.

This is a keeper
This is one of the best series ever. Ruth Jones is amazing with her writing , and the characters are realistic. Stellas house bursting to the seams with family comings and goings, & her own love life is a laugh a minute. Adult humour

It's a shame
I absolutely loved series 1 & 2 and to be fair I do like series 3 but was quite saddened that they took out so many of the main characters all at once ? Paula and dai were my favourite charactors and they've disappeared ?? It's a shame and I don't find this series as funny either. I'm yet to see series 4.

Fabulously funny with lots of pathos
Fabulously funny with lots of pathos. We have the whole series and really enjoyed them all. Would recommend it but buy the whole thing so you understand the characters clearly.
