I’ve been using this product for about 3 years now. The smell is amazing and it actually helps moisturizer your beard.

Over the last 5 years I have used at least a dozen various beard balms and probably that many oils as well. This has a nice scent. My wife definitely approves. I find it to be the perfect ratio of wax to oil. Some balms require you to wash your hands after applying because of the greasy feeling. This stuff just works right in. I tried Rugged Roots after my previous favorite balm (Percy xxxxxxxx) sent me two rancid orders in a row! Beard balm gone bad is a horrible thing. This tin was sealed with a plastic liner and was very FRESH. I am now a fan. I just ordered a tin of the orange cedarwood. I bet it is going to be just as good.

Great product. I've been using the oils for years, this is the first balm of theirs I've tried. Just as good as the oils! After using for a while there is a noticeable difference in the health of my facial hair, my beard is not itchy throughout the day, and even when I shower at the end of the day I can smell/feel it in my beard. I use it every day!

You can’t go wrong with this balm...great consistency and scent. Definitely a premium vanilla scent, not the cheap vanilla candle scent that most balm makers use. I would have given it 5 stars if they actually filled the tin to the true 2 oz as indicated on the tin. 1.75 oz is the true amount you get from these chintzters.

Not really that much tobacco or vanilla scent so less one star, but it smelled nice and made my husband's beard look great. He had never tried beard balm in all the years he's had a beard but he loves it. It even makes him look more youthful with a manageable, shiny beard and he loves that!

So I just got mine in the mail today and just opens it five minutes ago. And the smell of it is awesome!! In a strang way it reminds me of home when I lived with Mah. It’s a sweet with a good hint of spice. It’s not girly which I kinda atisipated to me be. My beard isn’t that long a if now cause I’m regrowing it out so I don’t know if the hold really. But I love the smell! Well done!!

I've been using Layrite beard oil for a while now and I was running out so I jumped on Amazon to quickly re-stock. I couldn't find my trusty brand but this one kept popping up like a teenager trying to catch of glimpse of sunbathing cutie next door. I've used other solid beard oils before and it was always hit and miss with them. This is my first time buying the "Rugged Roots" brand so I wasn't too sure what to expect. I never liked standard beard oil because it's just too runny and tougher to blend in. The Layrite stuff was great because it's more like liquidy toothpaste consistency so it applied really well.The tin arrived quicker than expected and this thing was well protected. I kind of chuckled because I recently bought a $700 Intel CPU that was way less packaged than this $17 product. No worries about denting this oil!I opened it and took a good whiff expecting the sweet aroma of vanilla mixed with a fine Cuban cigar....nothing??!! I had read mixed descriptions about the scent and was surprised that there just wasn't one. That is until I used it. :) Once I scraped a bit out to try it, the smell activated right away. Like everyone else, it's tough to describe this particular scent for sure. I'm not sure it really smells of vanilla or tobacco at all.It is a pleasant scent that is very mild and hardly overpowering. It's certainly a manly smell and almost has an old wooden box type of scent to it. I don't think it will be a panty remover by any means, but it also shouldn't attract any wild moose to you either.I applied the normal amount and rubbed it in my hands to warm it up. It melted quite nicely. It applied like a normal beard oil and was easy to incorporate into my beard. I did find it to be a bit more greasy on the hands than my normal stuff though. There was a visible "waxy" layer left on my hands that I actually had to wash off. (normally I just rub the leftovers on my buddha belly hairs but this stuff didn't come off so easy)After I massaged it in, I took a comb to it and was quite surprised how smooth and silky my beard felt. The comb just glided through the beard like a pair of oiled up women in a kiddie pool.The ingredients seem to be natural with the exception of a questionable "d-Alpha Tocopherol". I thought at first it might be the extract from the testicles of retired lumberjacks, but after a quick "Googly search", it turns out it's a natural form of vitamin E. Using product on 2 months beard growth. Obviously hold wasn't a huge success on hair this short. But I did notice some. I was applying rather generously working it to skin @ first application. Leaves a nice sheen, wasn't blinding, over glistening or greasy looking. Smell wasnt what I was expecting, however I did get accustomed to it and did not experience any headaches. Product is decent......UPDATE... I have been using on and off for a while, I have had complements on beard appearance and people notice the smell if you let them close enough. Ladys seem to aprove. I'll buy again.

The smell is good, more vanilla cinnamon than tobacco vanilla though. Was expecting more of a sweet tobacco or cigar blend scent, but the vanilla was the overpowering scent. Somewhat gritty to touch but smoothes out, not greasy. Would buy again if I couldn't get my usual one.

Lives up to the descriptions. Feels good on my stache and helps calm the itch. It also has some hold since beeswax is the 3rd ingredient. I was taking a chance ordering the Vanilla Tobacco but it definitely smells good and lasts all day. Woodsy smells dont do it for me personally. I am bummed out I couldn't find any reviews online for the RUM BAY smelling one or much of any of the other ones. Hopefully the company can hook me up for a review or point me in the right direction because I was really worried I would have to return for a refund.
