DEWALT DW625 Plunge Router
This is an awesome piece of equipment. I have two other routers (not Dewalt) and although the job gets done with those, the DW625 router makes the job a lot easier. It makes you feel like a real woodworker and it makes you proud of the end results! As any tool, do not force it or abuse it. Follow the user's manual instructions always and you will enjoy your tool for years to come! This is a powerful tool--not a toy--so treat it with respect. Make sure you have adequate power supply from the power outlet, otherwise it will trip the breaker. I almost damage a raised panel lid I am working on because of a tripped power breaker. Other than that, I am very happy with my purchase and with my other Dewalt tool purchased long time ago. By the way, this was the first time using Amazon, and after this purchase I have completed two more purchases with ZERO (0) complaints. Amazon is a very reliable and secure way of doing Internet purchases. RECOMMENDED!

I also use it with the Bosch router table but noticed that the plate to attach to does not have all holes to line up (Bosch router plate has a pretty big variation of hole patterns)
Jesus this thing is a monster. Primarily used to plane down large slabs of walnut and/or redwood. I also use it with the Bosch router table but noticed that the plate to attach to does not have all holes to line up (Bosch router plate has a pretty big variation of hole patterns). I was only able to get two screws to line up. But honestly it's fine. Functionality wise this thing destroys everything in it's path and does it with ease. The variable speed settings are great to have as an option when dealing with harder wood. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it as a hand router for small pieces or without a guide just because of it's size (ability wise it would have zero problem) but don't let the size fool you...it's not that heavy. All in all this thing is worth every penny and I'm glad I upgraded.I also have the Dewalt hand router so I like these both as alternatives to each other for any job I place in front of it.

Nice Router
I was torn between this one and the lesser 2 hp router. Finally selecting this one because the price was too close not to get the one with more power (Insert grunt here) I'm using this to make wooden signs and having a lot of fun. I found its best to plunge the router into the material then lock it down makes for better cutting and less fatigue. Is a little tough to see where you are cutting so you'll need to visualize the pattern before you begin.

Poor quality handles
I received my router today and will only report on my short observations. I have three other dealt routers for comparisons. My first impression is the the router has good build quality with the exception of the cheaply made & poor quality of the two plastic handles. The handles on my other DW routers is made with rubberized handles they provide a non slip grip & feel like high quality. DeWalt needs to address this as it downgrades their otherwise quality product. While running the router is extremely smooth and the variable speed works smoothly as well. The cord is of high quality and the collet appears machined nicely. The metal parts have a sandblasted finish and a high gloss appearance, my other Dewalt routers are a little smoother finish with less gloss. The plunge quality is smooth and the lock works perfectly. Many people complain about the off/on switch but I find it is located in the handle and it is convenient. This attention to the handle switch makes it more important to provide a high quality handle which Dewalt has failed to provide. The router is made in Italy and arrived packed as a box in a box with no damage. To sum up it appears to be a quality product with cheaply made handles.

but was expected to be this weight for a quality machine with excellent design and HP
The machine operated flawlessly. A little on the heavy side, but was expected to be this weight for a quality machine with excellent design and HP. The chip deflector and vacume attachment still allows some chips to be distributed, but this is expected using a high speed hand held Router. The location of the power switch takes some getting used to.I also ALWAYS purchase a carrying case for each DeWalt tool I buy. For some reason the DW625 DOES NOT offer a carrying case as an accessory or as standard equipment perhaps this review will nudge DeWalt into designing and selling a case.

My Shop Workhorse
I bought my first DW625 over 15 years ago and used in in my router table on a regular basis, building cabinets and custom furniture for my home. I burned up the motor using a pretty big bit on a bunch of panels I was making and simply got on Amazon to see if the same model was available. It was, I purchased it and have been using it ever since. Nothing's changed in my opinion of this router. It's a workhorse; solid as a rock and it's quiet.

Very good router!
Smooth start and coast down. Stable platform. Chuck is easy to use with stable bit engagement over long periods of use, yet remains easy to unlock while changing bits. Dust evacuation attachment works for fine particulates, but not coarser tear out.

Nice router
This is a pretty nice router so far. I've only run a few pieces and mounted it into my router cabinet, but it did very well. I only wish it had an easier way of raising and lowering in the table.
