Excellent, but simplistic book.
This is a good resource, as an introduction to CBT (the book is simplistic and basic, but the information is excellent). I find some valuable info that I haven't seen elsewhere in the areas of "controlling impulsivity" and "forgiving others". All of the worksheets are available to print out/access with a website code. I highly recommend this book. Please mark if you find my review helpful. Thank you so much!

simplifies
simplifies a lot of stressors into bite sized pieces to tackle over time. I'm not sure it gives a really comprehensive attack strategy but it is a very good foundation. It is important to be simple when you or some one else is being overwhelmed, so I'd say this is best for people with anxiety or have anxiety as an additional symptom to some other diagnosis.bottom line, a good tool best used with other tools, look up 'anxiety thought traps' and you'll find other ways that your thought process may contribute to unhealthy mood swings itself.

Great book for Cognitive Therapy collection
Love this book. I am a mentor in a middle school and needed material to use to help a student work through negative self talk. This book lays out the chapters by the behavior needing attention, so it is easy to find the area I am looking for. Print in narrative areas is a bit small, but not a deal breaker by any means. Material print is plenty big and easy to read. I am not a clinician, but it is very easy to understand for a beginner like myself.

It's okay
The workbook is okay, but I'm not sure how it's so highly rated. Each section shows basically the same 15 worksheets, and then there are 5 unique worksheets at the end of the section. It can get repetitive after a while. The biggest annoyance is that the book talks a lot about "god" and sometimes it feels as if it were made for Christian counselors rather than mental health professionals. It looks like Dr. Riggenbach does therapy in Oklahoma, in the middle of the Bible Belt, so it makes sense, but would be a little less culturally competent for those who work with a lot of religious diversity.Overall, I felt like the book helped me wrap my head around CBT with concrete examples and worksheets, but wish there was more to the book than there actually is.

Terrific!
Terrific workbook! A very helpful adjunct to my existing therapy. Even my therapist praises it. Having the book to utilize between therapy sessions has proven invaluable to me. I find that being able to locate the chapter concerning my current nemesis and having all relevant tools and worksheets within is incredibly helpful and proves easy to use. Thank you.Three of my friends also love this book and find it useful with their therapists as well.
