Exceeded all of my expectations

First, a quick explanation of why I bought a Yiynova over a Cintiq.I've been using Wacom products for over 10 years. So when I was ready to upgrade from my Intuos3 tablet to a "video tablet" I started to do some serious research.I found that the latest releases of Cintiqs by Wacom were not getting very good reviews. The worst was in the case of the HD13... just search them on any online site and you'll see for yourself. So I started looking at alternatives and one brand kept standing out with excellent feedback in every review that I read... Yiynova. It was obvious that Yiynova was a company that focused on customer concerns and made improvements on their products both on their own... AND BY LISTENING TO THEIR CUSTOMERS (down to the smallest details)... something that is lost in product design by most other companies in this day and time. This leads us to the newer released MSP19u+V5.With a price tag less than 1/3 of the Cintiq 22HD and all of the favorable reviews on the MSP19u+ series, I decided to go with the newer MSP19u+V5 with the updated DVI-I interface... and I couldn't be more pleased. So on with the actual review of this tablet...I had no problems with the 1440x900 resolution to create detailed quality art. The glass is slick and non-textured (unlike a Cintiq). I find that a plus as my strokes are smoother, true to my hand movement and the glass will not scratch (like the Cintiq reviews complain about). It took me only about 5-10 minutes of actual drawing to feel comfortable with this tablet. There is virtually NO detectable lag with quick strokes and the same goes for jitter (at any speed). There is a very small amount of parallax (every video tablet has this problem)... Find a comfortable position for you to work with the tablet, then do a 9 point calibration. I did this and in most places on the screen I see no parallax. The stand is far better quality than what I've seen on any other drawing tablet. It also has rubber grips on both the stand and monitor that keep it motionless during use.As others have said, the cables could be a bit longer, but will work near the computer. Or 6' extension cables for the DVI-I and USB will run you less than $30 total. I saved so much on the Yiynova over a Cintiq that I plopped down a little extra for an HP monitor arm (it's really an Ergotron but cost less because it says HP), used 10' extensions and mounted it to the other side of my desk (I have a really big corner desk). But if you have the free desk space it will adjust well with the rugged Yiynova stand. The 8 programmable buttons aren't trigger happy like my Intuos buttons were, so you can rest your fingers on them without fear of engaging one by mistake. The buttons are also very easy to program and can accept about any hot-key combination that you choose. The pen is also very comfortable (to me). With the battery in place it feels well balanced and using Photoshop CS5 it has a nice natural stroke and a nice level of pressure sensitivity. It is very much like my natural feel when I'm drawing ink to paper. The two programmable buttons on the pen are well placed to where I like to hold my pens. To me it grips in my hand just as nice as a Wacom pen and maybe flows a little bit better (probably due to Yiynova's glass). The pen also mounts easily behind the monitor when not in use.Now speaking of Wacom, if you have any of their drivers loaded... UNINSTALL ALL WACOM DRIVERS BEFORE YOU EVEN UNBOX THE YIYNOVA. Wacom drivers don't work and play well with others and you will have driver conflicts if you don't. It's easy to do... just Google it if you don't know how.My cons on this tablet are minimal, but should be mentioned. The monitor adjustment buttons (color, contrast, etc...) bugged me at first until I got used to them. I only used these to adjust the color of the tablet to match my main monitor. On the plus side of that, I was able to get a dead match in about 10 minutes without too much fuss (once I fingered out the buttons). Basic monitor settings usually are only set once anyway so (no big deal there). The screen clarity is rather limited when viewing from extreme side to side or above and below the screen. But I find from my working angle perspective it looks just fine without any bothersome distortion of detail or color. The specs on the MSP19u+V5 says that the pen uses a "mini-USB" connector. However it actually uses a Standard USB 2.0 sized connector, just like all of Yiynova's tablets do.I had a problem getting the monitor to display in DVI mode using the DVI-I input on my graphics card. It kept reverting back to analog. I was willing to accept the analog as it is the mouse (not the video) that controls the detail and it looked acceptable within the price range... BUT... I decided to try the supplied DVI-I to HDMI converter and plug into my HDMI port on my card just to see... When I rebooted, my Yiynova defaulted to DVI mode and now it has sharper detail than my main 24" monitor. The manual didn't state that you have to use an HDMI port to output digital. Or it could just be my graphics card. The manual could be a bit more detailed in some areas.Dealing with "The Panda City" has been a very pleasurable experience. They have the best customer service that I have seen in decades. I emailed them with questions before I purchased my Yiynova and got answers to all of my questions from Andrew at Panda Support within an hour later. I then received a followup email a few hours later with photos and specs on the MSP19u+V5. If you contact them they will respond (quickly). The tablet was shipped out by The Panda City (not Amazon). While Amazon has not made me very happy with their shipping delays, The Panda City was excellent. Ordered on Wednesday, the tablet arrived 2 days later on Friday... packaged very well, with extras such as several video adapters and a pair of smudge guard gloves... AAA pen battery also included (I hear that a single AAA battery will last for months of heavy use).Oh... and NO DEAD PIXELS!!! I don't think that I've read a single review of anyone having a dead pixel on a Yiynova monitor. An affordable, quality tablet and exceptional customer support.I have watched many videos and read many reviews on the MSP19u+ series. I have seen how they listened to customer issues and kept improving on their products into what I have sitting at my desk today. The only question I have isn't should I have gotten a Cintiq... it's should I have put out $150.00 more and gotten the MVP20U+RH instead?

Packaging was fantastic. No major screw-ups and the unit itself looks ...

So I was finally in the position to invest in a tablet monitor and after a few days of playing around with it, I figured I'd post a review.First: Packaging was fantastic. No major screw-ups and the unit itself looks awesome.Upgrades from the 19"-20": This new unit in comparison to it's previous generation; the power cord/USB/HDMI cord is no longer hardwired into the unit, instead, everything connects to the easel portion of the unit on the side...meaning the cords are no longer really in the way. I guess comfort will be entirely on you. It's no longer VGA (I believe the previous generation was); now it's HDMI.It's a nice smooth glass surface which is both a plus and minus. I'm not noticing any overheating issues or discoloration or anything like that. The pen still doesn't have an eraser on the end of the barrel...I was hoping that with an upgraded monitor, they would have worked to make that happen. The pen still uses a AAA battery which gives it some weight and they redesigned the pen itself. It's very comfortable and I was pleased with the feel of it. I'm not entirely pleased with the pen pressure when I try to color something. I have a very light touch when I work so I thought that to be a major drawback. If you are on Windows 10 (Sorry Mac users): the device is plug and play but there will be some tracking problems but once you fix it, I haven't had any problems since. Make sure you know a thing or two about setting up a second monitor...it's hard for me to explain here, just know you're in for some work to set it up.Color calibration is very difficult. Unless you're willing to get a colormunki or something, it'll be work. I went with the closest result that's pleasing to me and it's an RGB unit. Also a downside if you ever plan to print and trying to get as close as possible.I've used it with the following programs:Photoshop: works fineSketchbook Pro: Works fine (great, actually. I really dig the new SBP)SAI: I can't get the pen pressure to respond in SAI which is very frustrating for me. Photoshop is entirely too hard on my computer so I tend to lean on sai a lot for my work and it's simply not working. I saw in one of the videos someone using sai when I chose to go with Yiynova but it appears to be a different device. Very disappointing on that front.I will say that, all in all, if you're new to the world of tablet monitors, this isn't a bad choice especially if you don't want/can't spend the money on a cintiq. Yiynova could easily give Wacom a run and I'd like to see them try, which they are. And for $400? ffff. Easy.If they could make Sai work without futzing with the driver too much, it will easily be my go-to device.-----------------------------May 2017 update:I've been using this tablet virtually every day since I got it and a few things:1. The unit heats up along the bottom but I spoke to Panda City and they said that's where the actual machinery is so it'll naturally be a little warm BUT, as of today, the 4th, I'm also noticing it's hot to the touch on the left side of the tablet so I'm guessing it's a bulb or something. I'll give it some time.2. Pen pressure really is the biggest drawback to this tablet. I have a very light touch when I sketch and am actively learning to paint so it can be frustrating but you learn to adapt. Trust me, if I had the extra cash, I would have gotten their tablet with the more receptive pen pressure but...you get what you pay for as the saying goes.3. Don't use the driver that comes with the tablet itself; I'm finding the one they sent me via email is much better for some reason. I'm not exactly sure why, it's hard to explain but something is definitely different.I'm very happy with customer support; I think if Yiynova kept upgrading and solved this pen pressure thing, they'd be THE contender against Wacom and their prices reflect they actually care about catering to people who just can't afford the new $4000 price tag equipment. I've been occasionally watching the reviews come in from Huion products but...I don't know. I'mma stand by my Yiynova. Also: I kind of wish I got the remote but... *shrug*Otherwise, I don't regret this purchase. I've made the permanent switch to Clip Studio and it works great.I would, however, highly suggest you invest in a screen protector at some point.
