D&D Technologies TCHD1AS3BTS TruClose Heavy Duty Self Closing Gate Hinge, for Metal Gates up to 154 Pounds, No Alignment Legs, Black, 2 Count

I used the hinges on a large, cedar gate with metal frame. The gate is quite heavy, but the hinges support the weight and close the gate with authority. I did have some rebound issues with the latch, where it wouldn’t lock on the initial impact and the gate would bounce back open. Since the rebound doesn’t load the spring hinges very much, the gate doesn’t always re-latch. The hinges are plastic, so we will see how long they last.

Installed these on a pool gate at our beach house. They seemed very high quality so I installed them everywhere. Now they are failing one by one. Not sure if they are rusting internally but I cannot really get the spring to tighten enough to close the gates any longer.

This wore out much quicker than I anticipated. After a 3 weeks, the tension is a gong show. Doesn’t keep the gate open. I would not recommend. I will likely hire someone, which pains me, in order to get a proper hinge installed which will close the gate.

We have had to buy several sizes of this hinges for a gate that keeps breaking. These hinges are not durable and keep snapping. Such a bummer.

D&G typically has a good product line... These hinges are not the best design though. The area of the hinge where the screws go through the plastic is not very strong.
