Drains well
My orchid loves this stuff. It retains just enough water to keep it happy, but drains well to prevent root rot

Its what I needed.
I’m new to orchids. Have an orchid that I didn’t take care of well, somehow it didn’t die and I became devoted to reviving him. He’s about a year old and was root bound and in potting soil in the same pot I bought him in.This medium is exactly what orchids need. That being said it’s very very expensive for what it is. The smallest bag is very small and I feel like if you have more than one to repot you could easily make this yourself for much much cheaper. For me doesnr make sense as this is my only orchid, but if you have multiple do this. That being said it filled my whole new pot and so far my orchid is happy. I finally have a flower even.Four stars, because it’s great and works but just too expensive for what it is.

High Quality
I’ve purchased this orchid substrate several times and it’s consistently excellent. Great quality, retains moisture well, and promotes healthy root growth. I’ll definitely keep buying it.

Enough to repot two 3.5 inch mini Orchids
This is a nice orchid mix for mini orchids because the wood bark is not bigger then the plant and has a nice mix of bark and chips sprinkled with some perlite to hold water. I know some of the reviewers have stated this was pricey but the thought of buying a bigger bag for the same price which either the excess is thrown out or lost in the house is also a waste. So if you need enough orchid mix to re pot two small 3.5 inch pots to 4.5' pots this is for you.

If you want just basically bark...
I thought it would also contain moss and bits of other enriched planting soil. But it was mostly bark! The perlite just dotted the bag like it was a rare jewel...I will have to add some soil enhancement I know make my orchids thrive...I was disappointed. And realized barely a quart won't be enough to repot my 'baby' who already has so many roots needs a deeper pot!!

Like the small chips of bark.
I couldn't find the usual bag of Orchid Bark that I use so I purchased Doter Orchid mix in the 1 quart bag. It is not enough to repot more than 2 4-5" pots but I actually love this stuff because of the pieces of bark that were in the bag were very small. I don't know if it will always arrive like that or if it was the bottom of the barrel so to speak but it was perfect for repotting a keiki and a mini orchard. The small chunks of bark are easier to settle around roots than the large chunks in a typical bag of bark.
