The Borlotti bean is a classically Italian bean that is medium in size and tan in color with touches of red and black striations. Borlotti beans are extremely popular in Italian and Portuguese cuisines. The USDA states that the American Cranberry Bean is in fact the same bean as the Italian "Borlotti" bean and that a large percentage of beans sold in Italy are in fact cranberry beans that have been imported in from the U.S. Product of Italy.
