Q: How to improve the performance in this server?

I have a few of these servers, some were slower than the others. I assumed that it was something to do with my setup and spent countless hours re configuring. In the end I found out that the bottle neck was the LAN switcher. Try changing ports on the switch.

Q: laptop 2.5 hard drive support or not

There are adapters to handle this at under $15. Look up Fenlink. They work great. It just physically adapts the drive and connectors to fir where a larger drive would go.
