This is slim line without lacking volume.
Great bin. Thought it would be too bit, but it fits perfectly in my kitchen. Design is very good. Easy access, you can take out bin to pop a bag in, which also fits perfectly. It is touch lid, which suits me very well, as the other was a, press the foot at the bottom, which had discoloured after about 18 years, (that was also a Brabantia). Lasted so well. I would recommend to every one. They are expensive, but you get what you pay for, and I know this will last at least 10 years. I was also lucky enough to buy in the sales. Love it Brabantial!

Must have great bin
The media could not be loaded. I love this bin, it has lasted me years now it is perfect for my growing family. The colour is great and it does not fade. The capacity is perfect and it easily opens and closes with one push.Easily to remove the inside bin, to change the bag.You can use any type of bin bag within it to.I use to have a sensor bin and that was awful as it would not always sensor my hand it took ages. They do different sizes which is always great if you need bigger or smaller or for other parts of the house.

Even better than before
Having had a Brabantia bin for many years this was our first choice for a replacement when the catch finally broke on the original. There was nothing wrong with the rest of the bin, and a family member is going to use it for storage, but something had obviously broken off the locking area and a replacement fitting wouldn't work. The catch on the new one is infinitely superior in design and operartion and the quality of the bin is as good as ever and we can see no reason why it won't last as long as our earlier model.

The 40l: Very good, but check it was factory-fitted properly
We've had an excellent 60L Brabantia soft-touch bin since 2008, but after a kitchen-redo in 2018 its new location made it a bit of a nuisance as it's so big.Well, the spring on the lid snapped a few weeks' back and rather than try and source a replacement we decided 12 years was a good run and it felt like a good opportunity to downsize it the 40L (it might be misdescribed on Amazon as being 30L for some reason, so note this review is for the flat-backed 40L, not the all-round 30L), which is a little wider, but is shallower and has a flat back to go against a wall. On those grounds, it absolutely does the job, and indeed has a real benefit over the 60L (and the 30L) is being wider, sliding waste off cutting boards is so much easier, nothing goes on the floor ;) . And despite our slight fear about the downsizing in volume, 40L it turns out is still more than enough for a week, maybe sometimes even a little more, of kitchen waste for a couple of people. There are a couple of downsides. We don't think the soft-touch lid mechanism is anywhere near as good as the quality on our old 60L's lid, which was excellent (well, up until the point it suddenly wasn't, but that was after 12 years!). This rattles a little, and isn't as "soft". And we know it's not a one-off as we've actually had two, and the lid behaviour was identical on both. The first bin we were sent was unstable and rocked around while opening it. On investigating it (pictured) it turned out that the plastic base insert hadn't been attached properly and there was no way to reattach it, it was totally out of shape. We ordered a replacement and in that one it was fitted correctly, so we're pretty happy with it now: it's the right size for the position it's in, it's rock solid stable on the floor like the old one. It just seems there are some QA and cost-cutting issues at the factory, as shown by the broken base and cheaper-feeling lid. These are very expensive bins; one can accept the base was just a factory error, the lid feels a little more intentional. The broken bin was sent back and has been refunded with no issues. So we do recommend them, but check thoroughly and get it replaced if you find it's got anything that feels wrong.

It replaced my 14 years old Brabantia bin
I am never disappointed with brabantia. It lasts and is good quality and my old bin had to go because the plastic mechanism in the closing flap broke but for that it could serve couple of more years. This one is slightly shorter which I was not initially happy with but I got use to. However, I liked the new shape of the lid, the fact that there is not metal handles on it and the bin is also a bit wider.Overall, 5 stars.

So far so good
Bin lids are often terrible these days and break quickly. So far this as lasted longer than any other. When lid stops closing I run it carefully under the tap and it clears bits of rubbish you sometimes can’t see, then it works perfectly again.

Brabant is bin lid damaged - dent in the lid
I am unhappy with this product. The bin lid is damaged. Has a pertinent dent which means it does not fit properly on the the dustbin base. This is very disappointing!
