Continuum Games Beginner Dinner Games - Family Dinnertime Fun

I have bought this game for FOUR different friends with small children. It has always beena big hit. I wish I had it when my boy was little.The laminated cards come in a hinged tin, about the size of a recipe box for 3x5 index cards. Each card has a fun & easy game or activity on it. There's room enough in the box that you could add your own cards or some crayons or stickers. These make for great entertainment, especially at a restaurant while waiting for your orders to arrive. They're also great during your meal when the kiddies decide that they're full after only two bites of those chicken nuggets they said they were STARVING for.

If anything, this game is a good reminder to sit down together and have a meal. Not always easy to do with busy schedules. The kids really enjoy it and have been looking forward to the nights where we are all home at the same time for dinner. My kids are ages 9, 6, and 3. I prefer the games that ask questions to start conversation or games where you have to take turns thinking of items(like certain color foods). A few of the games such as the one where each person makes a milk mustache or the one you are each asked to moo like a cow are not ones we are going to do at the table at dinner time. All in all, a great idea!

I got this on a whim for my 2 daughters, ages 3 & 6. We had been having some attention span problems at the dinner table and these games have really helped us. The kids beg to get out a new game and are willing to stay at the table a little longer without pouting or complaining.Like other reviewers mentioned, I could have made up a lot of these myself. It is, however, nice having a list all in one place. The attractive packaging makes it much more exciting for the children as well. Some of the games are certainly more fun than others. Thumbs Up was a big hit. What's Missing didn't work out so well when someone decided to hide peas under the table.All in all, I like the variety of games. We've enjoyed using them and will continue to use them.

We love these as a family. Some cards require a few minutes of prep work on your part, but it is well worth the time. My daughter is in speech and I feel like it has helped her tremendously in building her conversation skills. Plus it is just a fun time to have a quick game at dinner.It's a great buy and I highly recommend it even if your child is not having any issues with conversation skills.

Nothing beats a good 'ol conversation with your kids. These are fun games and conversation starters that move us away from the traditional "how was school today" questions. Really gets us laughing and makes dinner time not feel so rushed. We keep our out all the time so we're sure not to forget about them, although the kids remind us every night. A few of the questions are a bit challenging for our 3-year-old, so we tailor them to suit her better.

Beginner Dinner games I hoped would be the product to help keep my child more focused on dinner. While it kept her at the table, I think it distracts her from her food, because she loves them! Some of the games are super easy (Think of as many red foods as you can) and some are great conversation starters (what is your favorite thing about dinner time.) Others require more setup and planning ahead. I'm always a bit frustrated when I get one of those, but they can be fun too, with a little forethought. I was hoping for a few more games that encouraged eating - my daughter is rather slow and gets distracted - but my girl definitely likes them, and they do help get things going when conversation is at a lull.I would say 50% of the games are super easy and fun. Another 10-20% are sort of one-time only games/stories to read, which is kind of a bummer. the other 30% take more forethought and planning.

I love the concept but I think my children (3.5 and 6.5) are too young for it. A lot of them require physical things to happen, like passing a food item around or hiding a piece of cutlery. I really just wanted to keep my kids sitting down, giving them "props" isn't going to help them from getting too distracted. If you're okay having to get up for each question and grab something else from the kitchen, then this is for you. But if you're like us and we just wanted family discussions or quizzes, then this isn't right.Definitely not something you would want to take to a restaurant.

I bought this game not knowing what to expect. Of the 51 cards, there are many cards in this pack that were hits with my children (who are 4 and 6). Some of the cards are games, and some are thought-provoking questions (such as: what is your favorite color? food?). The cards are good conversation starters, and the children do get excited when we bring the box to the table. Each card can be played very quickly and with little preparation time or supplies. To play the games, children do not need to read.Nevertheless, most of the ideas in the box are tried and true games that we adults have played at some point in our lives. (They will be new to your kids.) The box is a nice vehicle to lend excitement to familiar parlor games, but it is not necessary.Am I glad that I bought the box? Yes. For a relatively small expenditure, I can have some creative ideas at my fingertips. Do you need this box to have family fun at the dinner table? No, but you will have to work a little harder to create the family fun without the pre-packaged suggestions.
