Our new fans require this type of battery because it converted the AC current to DC current to function. Our fans are a little expensive and we had them in our family room . It came with only two additional battery so we found them on Amazon and bought 8 of them to have an inventory .

My best advice: DO NOT DISCARD THE OLD BATTERIES until you find replacements. You may need to show clerks the battery (they won't believe you).
