Mecanum Wheel Robot Kit 4WD Omnidirectional Wheels Smart Robot Car Chassis Kit

I bought this barebones kit to acquire the wheel set mainly, but i was also interested in the TT motors. For the price and fast delivery, i felt it was worth it at the time. My main interest in the wheels is for a special project. i wanted to make sure that the small diagonal wheels on each mecanum wheel were not just a hard plastic. they are actually a type of pliable material, so they do have traction. i have yet to apply actual power to the motors, though i can rotate each motor axle with a wheel attached and i can hear the gears working properly. the assembly process was fairly easy. the tiny nuts and bolts that connect the motors to the small plastic pieces is about the most difficult aspect of the build. everything fits well, and i can tell that the motors will do their job. interesting to note, if you install the wheels in an opposite pattern to the instructions that are provided, the vehicle will be able to rotate (spin in place) freely. i suspect this is always true for mecanum wheels. this is probably not a desired configuration in most cases, which is why they included a simple printed diagram of how the wheels should be oriented to the vehicle. be aware that the eyelet holes for the wiring to each TT motor are very small. You will need a small tip for soldering iron to make a connection more permanent, though one might be able to just thread and wrap small wire.

The media could not be loaded. I wanted to play around with mechanum wheels, but the prices gave me pause. I ran across this kit, scooped it up, and am extremely pleased with it. I'd highly recommend it.

Buy 2 so you can have a level to hold battery packs. Balancing the weight is essential to (sort of) consistent sideways movement. Lots of fun.

I made a four wheeled robot that people could drive around on my deck, from Remo.tv, but there was a lot of friction when turning from the tires. I really wanted some omnidirectional wheels that I could switch out so I got this. The wheels work supper well and turning is now really smooth. I have not yet programed in the sideways drive , but it turns on a dime.

This was easy to assemble, all parts fit perfectly and the correct hardware was included. The extra layer body is also nice giving a thicker model. I added the controller (Arduino) in the middle with the battery holder on top. Later I upgraded the controller with a ESP32 and added a HC-SR04 for object avoidance control. This is a great learning experience project.

Awesome kit! Easy to put together and lots of options on stuff to add because of the extra space.

The instructions are a little hard to follow, but the product itself is exactly what I expected. Good buy for the price.
